What are you trying to unlock? vehicles get bonus research for ones following them in the research tree, or there can also be research penalties if say you are trying to research a tier 5 with a tier 2 vehicle.
H m m m. Not sure you're in the right thread. Besides that it depends on what country, what BR, etc. I'm not saying the grind isn't painful, but it's a it depends situation.
I do admit that I don't play much war thunder but trying to actually get out of the first Swedish light tank is showing to be an actual impossibility when you have unlocked the 10m 105 mm penetration rounds. As everything else sucks and you have play so long to try to get the other ammo that you know. Can ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING.
I got to the M/40 but when I tried it out on the PvE game mode because ♥♥♥♥ PvP it is utter crap. So... Are you guys absolutely sure you designed them satisfactorily because I VERY MUCH DOUBT that you have.
Why are you even playing this game...What are you trying to achive ?
So this game is basically just use the tanks everybody knows? *goes to barf* Yes, I understand why they are the way they are but you the thing called META is SERIOUSLY going to destroy this game if you don't address it and I can already hear the slaves getting ready to throw a tantrum.
If anyone remembers how ammo used to be, you could spend 1,2k per shell in your Centauro ROMOR, or other vehicles.
The premium ammo name stuck because you needed to pay real money for it, since the change both are the same.
For the grind, it does suck. It's not only the RP grind or the grind to get the SL necessary to purchase and train a vehicle. It's the roadblocks before and after getting a specific vehicle, the repair costs and ammo costs that reduce the little you gain per battle that slow your grind. Then when you're grinding the next vehicle, the modifications for the vehicle you just got and the painful process that stock grind is or might be depending on vehicle. The higher you go the worse it gets.
It's all designed to fustrate the player to pay. The problem is not fustrating the player, that to a certain extent is needed to keep the game running. The problem is the ammount of systems colliding constantly in a game, or the ammount of chunks you take away just to force someone to open their wallet.
You're brand new to the game, and struggling at reserve vehicles, how can you make any observation about the "meta" in the game.
This isn't even a "git gud" issue, it's a "get learning" issue.
Take some time, learn the game mechanics, visit the wiki.
Otherwise you won't last long.
Sweden is not the best example I would give to start off. It's not a bad country, but you do need to understand how shells work in-game compared to WoT and have a basic knowledge of how crew are laid out in tanks. Your shell is APDS, a solid shot, which means that you'll rely on the shell going through and the spawl killing people inside, which it really won't in a big radius around the shot. Some of them do have HEAT, which should work, and some later on get APCBC which is an explosive shot.
It's pretty easy to make an assumption coming from WoT that there is going to be those specific tanks people are going to gravitate towards (Which is going to form the META and make everything else waste of time in other player's eyes). Do I think there is stuff for me to learn? Yes. Do I already understand the game's mechanics? Like I said there is more for me to learn but I think I already understand all of the basics.
(Do I think I still need to impro...? YES)
This doesn't solve the issue I have presented though. Pretty much all of the tanks you will end up seeing in every match come from those four or five countries: USSR/Russia, USA, China, Brits and French. Everything else will be ignored pretty much.
Except that isn't the case though. I see tanks from all nations on the regular. Certain minor nations just don't have certain BRs fleshed out yet so, yes, some BR spreads you won't see, say, Italy because they just don't have a lineup.
I find it odd you left out Germany, one of the most played nations as a nation you don't see every game...
Yeah I do definitely understand how the penetration thing and how you should make use of what it does for you but 90% of the time the shots that do penetrate BARELY does anything and you pretty much proved my point about how there is META that is clearly there and being an issue which is eventually going to kill diversity, then player count and finally the whether it is actually worth it to support this game money wise on the developer side.
There were a lot of times where I would find that one exact spot to evict an enemy to underground. I can't remember the tank name (Probably S35?) if you shoot it from (looking for receiver of the shot) right about 45 degrees on the corner of the front armor CLOSE of the turret and base you have quite consistent chance on one shotting it.
Although... Well most of the tanks are pretty much the same way.
*promotes* ONLY USING ONE TANK AND PREMIUM AMMO.
aka going back to WoT...
Yeah that was a mistake on my part. My bad. I very much doubt that. Either you play with certain groups who have agreed to play with other tanks than the usual or you are not really paying attention or don't have as complete knowledge of all tanks as you might think and I am not going to call myself an expert as I pretty much only play these types of games when I feel like it.
If you actually have access to raw statistics, I think whole player base would be very welcoming of having that public access. Because if that isn't public access stuff the doubts are just going to be mounting.
Usually going by if the game does receive me well I am going to spend more time in it. If the game is really good I will play more of it even to the point where I can't play it because there is some jerk DDOSing the game I want to play (Titanfall 2 in case you are curious).
