The best thing you can do is play a BR/Rank where you do more, more often.
Sure Realistic Rank 6 might have a higher multiplier, but if you're able to do more in Rank 4 Arcade, then you're earn more score per minute there.
I'd try to make the coupon upgrade (310k atm) but I really can't be arsed to bother for something that'll sell for like 15 GJN until stock finally starts dwindling in 3 years.
I doubt the prize will be this low when people start selling it.
The F-14 is no prop plane, no boat or one-trick japanese bomber, it has fancy missiles and radar and this one or two movies and all that, and it's "worth " 7,992 GE's if one really purchases all the 8 levels. That's roughly 44,55 Euro bucks. If you throw in another level for the camo and 4 random modifications it's 999 more, perfect for a 10,000 GE package for 49,50 Euros.
Take the A1-H as example, also a event plane, it never sold lower than around 50 for a brief period 2 months after release, and now is the 4th most expensive plane out there at 148.
Rank 5 jet bombing saved my sanity, because even in a full uptier there's a decent chance you can take out one base for ~750 in-match score. If someone kills you, it's just ~5 minutes worth of time. If they don't kill you, just dive into the friendly fighters, land, rearm, go pop another base. You probably won't get to hit a third base, so at that point pick your poison, because often you're the last player on the team.
It's not a super fast way to earn score, but it's not difficult, pretty darn consistent, and barely impacted by the skill level of your teammates. You will end up cursing the occasional match in which there are 4 actual bombers and 1-4 attackers determined to each drop 25-75% of a base's worth of bombs on separate bases though. Plus, the SAAB-105s (or whatever the exact name is) are pretty much the worst enemy in that BR range, because they get an attacker spawn and IR missiles.
Yup, best thing is to find a decent balance between playing what you enjoy, and playing something that earns you enough score per minute to fit your available playtime.
The rank multipliers don't seem all that important until you pull out a calculator and start crunching numbers. Rank 3 has to earn like 50% more mission score than rank 7 in order to get the same event score.
