Its very bad, i have only gotten kills if i shoot it in less than 8km otherwise it loses lock and slows down super fast and even at less than 8km its easily avoidable.

If its bugged i hope they fix it soon.

I literally didn't get a single kill using R-77, and for the first time I have below 1.0 KD in a top tie jet: The SU-27SM. I only have 0.6KD

27SM is utterly horrible and garbage.

R-77 seems to bleed an absurd amount of speed whenever it tries to maneuver. My suspicion is that because it has a very high G-Tolerance, it ends up taking full advantage of its 50Gs+ as well has not having a sustainer booster so medium/long range shots just drop off hard vs. AIM-120's capabilities.

I remember seeing someone complain about the R-77 is gonna be "OP" before it was released, and I'm just laughing at how bad it's actually playing out in actual game play.

R-77s are meant for close range sharp turn hits, not long range.

In simulator yesterday there was a mig29 and su27 with 15 kills each, 33 minutes into the match. They were playing at altitude. It's possible that you're not playing the new equipment to its full advantage. I haven't unlocked r77 yet so I can't say one way or the other, but they were killing me just fine.

Yeah, this is really important. Folks are too used flying on the deck and not take full advantage of their missile properties for high altitude engagements and look down-shoot down engagements.

I've yet to be clapped by an R-77 in virtually any engagement type up to this point. R-27 appears to be more lethal lol.

I'm firing from 8Km altitude on F-15C with %50 hit rate, half my missiles hit usually.

With R-77, I've managed to get 1 hit in 10 matches, and that didn't even kill, just crit.

There's a kill feed that tells you what they were using. No need to guess.

I think the problem in RB is that it's basically an arcade team death match, where you fly straight, launch missiles, pew your pews, and then let the cards fall. It's the same as when the R-27ER came out, you couldn't just fly towards an enemy and expect the aim-7 to win in a missile duel without doing things to force an advantage. Simulator is a lot more dynamic, and that's probably why those two players were doing so good with the r77.

I have no doubt that the aim 120 is the better missile when two players choose to have a 40km standoff, which is the path of least resistance for your typical air RB match. So once again we have archaic game modes messing up the freedom to call an audible.

The thing is, back then while the r27er was OP, it was somewhat avoidable if u fly low to the ground, the su27 radar is pretty bad and it would lost lock most of the time, then you could get closer and use ur aim9m's or just dogfight with the superior FM. The only good thing back then the russian planes had were its missiles.

However now, russian planes have bad fox 3 missiles, the same bad FM, same bad radar.
Literally no pros now, only cons.

Also those 2 people in your match, i really find it hard to believe that they had 15kills each, sure they may done well but not to that extend, maybe you didnt see if they killed AI planes?
You mentioned that were playing at altitude, the r77 is litteraly the worst at long range, at short range (less than 10km) is better but its still pretty bad.

You got a 1 in 10? the guys a champion. THese R-77s are garbage its like a fat R-73 with worse stats. honestly russia just seem to be free kills for everyone else now. you cant compete when you spend half the match dodgeing aim120s.

Yea R-77s are dogwater right now. My guess: they are going to buff them, how?, by reducing their drag coefficient. Also they can't make the engine burn longer than 6s.

Idk I fire an R-77 at a high flying target from like 10km and that things never arrives.
