Pz. III L/M horrible?

I'm not tanky, and I don't hit well either; how exactly am I supposed to play with this tank? I'm thinking about cutting my losses and going with the russian tree. Any help?

It's literally a solid tank. Great mobility too for it's size. Gun is decent.

Shermans and T-34's at my BR annihilate me constantly, and I'll admit that I'm far from the best player in WT but I'm sure I'm not entirely to blame here.

exactly this, panzer III is good and has some aspects that may be better than panzer IV's but those are only noticable under very specific circumstances and the performance of the long 75mm overshadows it

Eh, gun isn't everything. The Pz III M or L tanks can take hits that no PZ IV F2 can, and the smaller size helps avoid hits that the F2 would otherwise be more susceptible to.

Its like when people play the M10 for its gun alone. To me, the M10 is crap to be avoided because gun isn't everything. It has pretty mediocre armor and when the enemy knows what it is, one HE shell is all it takes to end you. Thing also doesn't have good mobility or reaction time due to the slow traverse and somewhat weak mobility.

The long 75mm Germany has at the BR is good, but I wouldn't really use the F2, I'd wait until you have the G or H variants and use that higher armor profile.

I get one tapped by shots that the opposing T-34/Shermans seem to take quite well, how exactly do you use it? Do you tend to only go for flanks?

i recently played a lot in 3.0 german tanks, bc i was learning german planes at this tier so i played a lot with them and they are a beast imo. But i consider myself very good when it comes to tank gameplay, not so much with planes yet.
They are more of a support tank, going on the flanks and pick up unaware enemys, which on this tier is not that hard. The gun and ammo they have is excelent, mobility is okay and they have troll armor, which again, there is a lot of new players it this lvl so it works well.

Edit: Just a bit of info about them stat wise, bc i love stats.
PzIIIM: 53 Battles; 38 Deaths; 82Kills

PzIIIL: 20B; 10D; 50K

PzIIIJ: 19B; 13D; 40K

PzIVG: 83B; 61D; 92K

PzIVF2; 56B; 45D; 92K

For some reason i was very reckles with the PzIVG varianty :D
But they are about the same, the PzIIIM has a bit more survivability the PzIV has more kill potential.

The best of the best is the PzIIIL. I did very well with that at 3.0.

They're both pretty decent tanks to use, but suffer quite badly in uptiers. Against things their own BR or lower they can be incredibly powerful. The issue is, when the PZ4F2 got moved down to 3.3 Germany had another option with decent armour and a much more powerful gun.

You should be going for flanks in everything always. No matter how good your armor, getting shot at is a good way to die.

the spaced armor on the pz3s can troll shots to the driver and mg gunner that would otherwise pen pz4s making them rather tanky.

i don't mind glass cannon tanks but i have to agree, the G or H are big upgrades and you face almost the same enemies

I feel I do better at 3.3 with the F2 and G vs 3.7 with the H and J when up-tiered.

I do miss the god tier III M when it was 3.0.

I still feel the F2 is hot garbage. Gun isn’t everything and that tank doesn’t do much that I’d want. Until you have the armor of the later variants with the added track armor and all that, I’d still run the III M or L.
