To be fair, it is FOMO if you take into account that they announced[warthunder.com]the removal one month in advance.
So after ww2 certain nations on the losing side like Germany had no arms industry to speak of, while the allied nations continued building tanks like the t54s Germany had produced absolutely nothing since their late war big cats
A decision was made at gaijin to simply make up upgrades to the existing vehicles to fill that gap, don’t be fooled by the names because the panther 2 is not even remotely what the actual panther 2 project even intended to produce, in fact its configuration as shown in game would have been physically impossible to build
Now as time went on and the original restrictions on date have been lifted gaijin took a look at these fictional vehicles and decided not only were they no longer necessary to fill a gap that no longer really exists, but they set a precedent for other fictional vehicles they do not want.
You can make all the arguments you want about paper and prototype tanks but the tiger 2 105 and panther 2 are complete fiction, and gaijin have no intention of bringing them back.
There are a handful of other vehicles left from this era like the Japanese r2y2s which would be on the chopping block too, the only reason they aren’t gone is there is still a gap in the Japanese tree they fill which no real vehicle Japan had can fill, if gaijin ever finds something to replace them they will be going too
The maus is a completely different case because it was always intended to come back, its removal from the tree because it was impossible to balance was not intended as a removal from the game if you go back and read the actual announcement, it just means it’s a ‘play at your own risk’ poorly balanced vehicle which is not something they want in the regular tree
This just isn't true at all.
The reload, is longer yes, but a max of 12.5s vs 7.5s (not over twice as long at all)
It does weigh more, yes, but it has a higher Horsepower/ton than both the Tech Tree Tiger II and the Premium Tiger II.
It also has a rangefinder.
I play my 10.5 a ton, I love it. But to claim it's worse than the TT is ludicrous.
Yeah the engine on it is actually insane, can outpace every other tiger and tiger 2 in the game (once upgraded), even the reverse is crazy good.
