Leo 2A4M question.

Why does the 2A4M use Gen 1 thermals and run around with KE-W instead of DM33 and 43?

I really like the tank but those two things seem really weird, the M is a modernization and upgrade of just about everything on the 2A4 and in real life I thought it got Gen 2 or 3 thermals and I have never heard of a leopard running around with KE-W even though it is one of my favorite rounds in the game. Why did the Canadians use KE-W and why didn't they update the thermals during the upgrade process?

in WT the standard 2a4 and i think even 2a5 and 6 get gen 1 thermals and PSO if i remember. even tho they were outiftten with gen 2
and canadians just used a diffrent round they had made insteadd of the imported round i belive

Gaijin is well known for not outfitting NATO vehicles properly even if there are open source documents about it. Will just have to wait and see if maybe in 5 years they suddenly decide to update it.

PSO has Gen 2, the 2A7 has gen 1 I believe.

To be fair, I have been waiting since the 2PL was released for them to give it gen 3 thermals and change the APFSDS rounds it was using. They changed the rounds but the thermals remain gen 2 despite neither the 2A4 nor the PL program using gen 2, only modernized 2A4's would have gotten gen 2 thermals like the 2A4M for instance but the PL project had Gen 3 in mind and shoved them in there to make the tank far better optically than it's competition in hopes it would be able to see and hit first in engagements. Plus Gen 3 is way better on your eyes in my opinion, the gen 1 thermal images I have gotten to see in real life give me a migraine.

i thought it was other way around the 7 has gen 2 and pso has gen 1?

Huh, what round did they make?

the KEW round? i think it was the round they had with current tnaks and was able to be used with the leos they got

Yea, Gen 1 and Gen 2 are so muddy I hardly use them, only for open snow/sand maps to better spot camouflaged targets peeking over mounds. Sometimes I feel like my Strv 122s run Gen 1s.

Same here, I can handle gen 2 but I would love to have more tanks like my T-80BVM, running around with gen 3 is so nice.

Hmmm... need to check with a german main, I play every nation so I usually stop grinding once I get the vehicles I want for a top tier lineup and I don't want the 2A5-2A7 as I have the 2PL so I have no need for those other leopards and haven't bother to start spading the top tier leo's. But from video's I have watched I thought the PSO got gen 2 so the tech tree MBT players were really happy when it was added.

PSO has gen 1 thermals and only 2a7 have gen 2

Or, hear me out here. I know doomsaying is the best thing to do on the forums but maybe just maybe. Like every single other tank currently on the PTR its not finished at all and is just using a stock A4 as its placeholder at the moment cause you know its a test server and just about all of the tanks currently shown are very incomplete, Go drive the new premium T-80 its currently a ball turret that can be used for AA.
