Why IS-2 have a weird tendency of surviving explosive shells?

i experienced IS-2 surviving direct bomb hits on roof and no damage,
IS-2 surviving M109 on side (kinda ok, after all its a heavy tank and KingTigers can survive side M109 shoots too)
but i also experienced IS-2 surviving direct Sturmtiger hits then it made me question this

this is not about pen, this is about overpressure, and no, definetly not hitting engine

It's just over-pressure, I've hit a KT with a 2S3M in the rear turret ring, didn't detonate his ammo, next shot did though.

Heavier tanks sometimes just get their armour cracked, instead of dying.

Surviving a sturmtiger shot sounds like, just being gaijined, hell I've had 3BM25 non-pen and bounce on marder's ufp.

i know this may be an over-pressure thing and maybe its not related to the IS-2 but its weird, its the only vehicle i saw surviving like that

curious because on protection analysys the whole crew dies from overpressure + other tanks die when hit on the same spot

Was it on the very end of the barrel, because testing with the BM-31, (because I don't have Sturmtiger on protection analysis.) the fragmentation is ate by the barrel and rest is dispersed into the tracks, just like the video, the IS-2 is alive.
