game needs actual bomb targets...
with varied requirements... not just "X amount of TNT".

they should have targets that actually require the fire bombs and the armour penetrating bombs.

like a sub yard that you have to use armour penetrating bombs to kill... or a town that you burn... or a literally anything but a point on the map that you just drop X amount of TNT upon >.>

any better ideas?

Idk, maybe make it so you have to hit certain parts of the base, not just dump the bombs on the middle and get the destruction, or add different variations like railyards or factories, not these bases or whatever they are

I've seen that too; interesting ideas but seems to mostly be about adding more of the same thing and trying to add game features to promote people to "play right".

I think it might be easier to just add some more variety in targets, at least in the sort term.

just having a big sub pen that you need to get a 1000lb+ AP bomb to might promote team work a bit... or at least give bombers something to blow up for good points.

and idk wtf fire bombs are even for ATM lol...

There's quite a few other things but to me these are the biggest problems with bombers and NOT "I just don't want to be shot" problems. The "I just don't want to be shot" problem is because all the above (and more) exist so the only way to play most bombers effectively and somewhat viably (not saying you can't try and play some bombers like a gun ship good luck with that though lol) is to hope that you can space climb, not be noticed, not be attack, bomb the base and either (arcade) wait for the reload timer for your bombs or (other game modes) return to base if possible and rearm and repeat the above. In sim without the markers you could possibly hug the ground and sneak to a bomb target but good luck with the AA as you are a massive target more often then not.

This is also only talking about Medium - large bombers. Most light bombers stop existing quickly and most have some form of offensive weapon (7mm's, 50 cails, 20mm or even 30mm goofy guns). Most light bombers that don't have offensive weapons are 1.0 - 2.7 and are often very maneuverable or fast.

idk about you... but the thing I hate most about playing bomber is spending like 20min getting 60-80% of the way there and getting shot down.... why would you want to commit more time to getting shot down when there's absolutely 0 chance to survive?

just making it impossible to play interceptor...

no one cares about awards... otherwise people would be using rockets for "fire arrows" and actually working as a team for any of the other various awards... also one of those is exclusive to RB.

That sounds like a cool idea, they have to rework bombers completely anyways and having different targets require or are bombed more efficiently depending on the target is a good idea imo.
I don’t think they’ve talked about it really but I hope a bomber rework is in store for this year.

It's from what I assume a now deleted discussion on removing (think maus) bombers completely due to their uselessness in the game.

4. As I am a Arcade player I'm only aware on RB and sim that planes only spawn airborne if the runway options are not viable for the individual aircraft. But in Arcade interceptors are only able to spawn in the fighter spawn points (for what ever reason). So Game mode differences. If interceptors get air spawns in RB then they can stay since that makes sense (though I think that rocket power fighters - interceptors should get it too).

3. Is more about low tier bombers as for whatever reason most bombers are SLOWER by a large margin then low altitude fighters at high altitudes. So you can spawn in a Bomber and even on your side of the "trench" ground line you can be shot down by someone in a fighter.

5-7. It's meant to be similar but more rewarding based off BR level similar to how Intelligence works. Rewards do work it's just Gajjins refusal - denial of how to make SOME rewards actually worth going for. Lets take "Bomber Protector" as a example. Lets say at 3.0 the kill reward for a plane is (not accurate just imagination numbers) 1500sl and 200rp. For "Bomber Protector" reward you get a additional 30% - 60% depending on if that downed target damaged your bomber teammate or not. That's between 450sl - 900sl and 60RP - 120RP. IDK about you but those are some enticing rewards since they SCALE with BR level and are a percentage of the kill you made. As a trade for the possibly of no action seen "Bomber Escort" could give you 25% of base damage and destruction rewards. You have to be within 2km of any direction of a bomber for non missile BR's, for missile BR's lets just go with 5km. It's a small encouragement for players to stay with bombers in hostile territory as they will be rewarded with something by doing little. The Round trip Reward is a small attempt to improve rewards for BOMBERS only so they don't sit in space dragging the game out and attempt players to rearm and go at it again. (I am aware this is not very likely to do much but it's something).

8. Some people like me do land and I wish Gajjin would add an a award to damage beyond repair aircraft making it back to base such as 50% max repair cost and a tinny amount SL - RP. Water runways would be nice for the flying boats to land without having the chance to explode lol.

a bomb is just a piece of metal full of explosives the entire point is to deliver x amount of tnt to a location

I mean, there are other things they could do to improve the whole gameplay experience as well; but just adding more variation in things to bomb that actually favour different attack/bomber roles seems like something that they could add in the short term with minimal effort that wouldn't age badly.

maybe in SIM battles, AB and RB maps are to small to allow that, atackers have to drop their load usualy near max speed or they get shot down by enemy figthers and gaijin doesnt care about Bombers to make targets for then

except if they gave a significant amount of match points, then it might make it worth it to escort a bomber to these specialised targets?

like "hey guys! we're down in points! but maybe we can get a bomber to the sub pen and make a comeback!"

then say make it a fortified structure with like 200mm armour so you';d have to drop at least a 1000lb AP bomb on it from 5000m.

edit: maybe it could even be like a neutral objective that both teams compete to destroy for match points. and it would take multiple bombs so there could be strats to let the opponent bomb it most of the way then take it for your team! if there's one thing gamers love it's ruining things for each other lol.

Or....and hear me out. THEY ADD MORE BOMB TARGETS IN GENERAL. Seriously, the whole reasons WW2 bombers had such huge payloads was because they were intended to carpet bomb large installations like factory districts. WHY DO WE NOT HAVE THESE IN GAME? They could make a whole gamemode for this feature wherein both teams must escort their bombers and ground attack aircraft to strategic locations to destroy targets of varying size. strategic bombers for larger, closely clustered, bases like factories, and strike craft for smaller targets like tanks or outposts.

Play ground Rb, spawn your bomber, there you go, more interesting bombing targets that actually matter. You are the one choosing to do "bombing" in "air battles". It will never really be interesting and as the game mode currently stands... and it will always handicap your team for each bomber on it.
