Opinions on ZTZ96A (P)

Is it worth $32.50?

Does it fit the BR range well enough to competently fight in uptiers (10.3-11.0)?
Any negatives I should be aware about that would make it not a good purchase?

It's not very well armored, kind of like the XM-1's, it's mobility is a blend of the T-72 and T-80 platforms, so okay reverse and okay forward. The gun and optics are wonderful, nice pen and decent rounds and the thermals and zoom level are great for the BR, I prefer the setup for the WZ1001 but that is much later in the tech tree and higher in BR. The 96A (P) is a good tank but you must bare in mind that it is very similar to the XM-1 or the older premium Leo A1 120, you are mobile and have nice optics and firepower but you cannot get hit without getting partially disabled or killed, though the 96A might survive HEAT and ATGM's a little better than the Leo or XM.

Should clarify the commander and gunner optics on the WZ are almost capable of the same zoom level making it easy to scout around and shoot, the 96A's are 1x5 for the commander and 6x11 for the gunner so it doesn't have quite as nice scouting around capabilities as the WZ where you can see things far easier through the commanders sight as it's 3x11 and 6x11.

I'm very used to using the XM-1 (GM) so if it is as you say, then I would be able to transfer my experience to it.

I'm very used to using the XM-1 (GM) so if it is as you say, then I would be able to transfer my experience to it.

Yeah it's more or less the love child of that and the T-72 Turm, you get a nice gun and optics and the potential to tank a few heat rounds with your ERA in exchange for top speed back and forward.

I prefer the T-72AV (TURMS), the armour of the ZTZ96A (P) simply doesn't compare and has weaknesses. It has a horrible reverse speed too. Otherwise, good gun, good APFSDS. The regular tech-tree ZTZ96A is slightly better in terms of turret armour.

The optics are fine too. The dazzler or IR jammer isn't useful.

I have always had this faint hope that it would ward off helicopter missiles but it never did.

I've only seen it happen once, with an abrams I was aiming my ATGM's at from my Allouette, I thought the server was crashing because my missiles were slamming into the ground but it was, in fact, a dazzler that saved the abrams. I think it was back when the Abrams HC got added, it was a long while ago. Even while riding around in my ZTZ96A (P) I've never been able to stop any ATGM's from hitting me so maybe that singular instance with my Allouette was a bug and gaijin patched it so ATGM's ignore dazzlers or something?

The only missile I have seen the dazzlers work on is the bagelpanzers tow.

I have actually spaded the M1A1 HC and used it a fair bit. I think I seldom, if ever see missiles other than those from choppers at that battle rating. You were using a Alouette at that battle rating!!

You sacrifice ERA for APS its technically the same as the TT one just with a swap, it has softkill only but theres no other chinese tank for top tier thats the only one UNLESS you buy the WMA but its really difficult to play as you have only missiles they are strong but you are a glass cannon but i assume you just want to pick up the tank in the current china sale, pickup the Z19 along the way so you could get a halfway good time in RB.

Im not sure if its the best time to pick up premiums a few weeks before the devblogs start, but thats up to you.

Of course, it's a nice heli, really easy to control and small too. The missiles are meh but still it's okay even in 11.7 as long as you have a good idea of the sight lines of the enemy SPAA's and keep to the tree line.
