Question about BR ground line-ups...
As a Bri'ish main I can say with confidence that the 9.3 lineup is one of my absolute favourites. The Rooikat, both 105 and autoloader, VFM5, khalid and even the new Vickers Mk.11, this line-up is just really fast (compared to pretty much everything else in the tech-tree). My problem, or at least small inconvenience, is the constant uptiers I face against 10.3 tanks. Now, to be honest, not a big issue as the speed of this lineup makes up for it, but sometimes it can be a bit frustrating. Altho I do understand the uptiers, a lot of top tier premium piggybank tanks are around 10.0-10.3 so it makes sense.

This brings me to a different problem. I almost unlocked my final 10.3 tank, the Vickers Mk.7 and with that my 10.3 lineup will be complete. To be honest, I expected nothing but DOWNtiers on this level, because previously I have experienced almost exclusive uptiers in my 9.3 lineup. But, unfortunatly, I am still faced with never ending uptiers, only now to 11.3. And not only am I facing better tanks that are faster, better armoured and have a better apfsds round than me, I now have to deal with all those attack heli's...

So my question is, how can I get downtiers in my games? Is there a trick to picking a certain br that works for the matchmaker? (within the british lineup?)

For those interested, I made an Excel registering every game in my 9.3 lineup, writing down what type of game I got. Almost 90% of the 100 games I wrote down were full uptiers to 10.3 with a majority of players effectively driving in 10.3 tanks/vehicles...

it depends on what people r playing if more people are playing 8.3 then 10.3 u have a higher chance of getting downm teird, Alot of people play 10.3 so its hard to get downteirs from there.IF u had a 9.0 line up u might get better downteirs due to not alot of 10.0 vehichles r played but no real trick.

Play the vehicle with the highest BR.

Frankly, the matchmaking is built for most of your matches to be uptiers.

If you've played World of Tanks before, you'll find the matchmaking principles aren't entirely dissimilar in that X amount of players will be a higher tier/rank than the rest of the lobby.

In War Thunder, 4 players on each team will be the maximum BR bracket available in most cases with a mix of BRs in between. So for your 10.3 line up, you'll likely encounter at least 4 players that are 11.3, with the rest ranging between 11.0-10.3.

Matchmaking inherently targets getting players into matches as quickly as possible. It does not care how many times you get uptiered, it only cares about whether or not it can create a game as soon as possible.

The only way to not be uptiered reliably is to obtain the maximum BR available so that way you're only either ever downtiered or matched at the same BR.

You can try to game the matchmaking a little bit by playing a nation that has a line up at X BR that can be downtiered into Y BR that's super popular, but that's really it.

Before some recent BR changes, I used to play a lot of Soviet and US 6.3 that would fairly regularly get downtiered to 5.3 because Germany had an S Tier 5.3 line up that had a large population density available so I'd pretty often get thrown into downtiers to get those matches to be created faster. Offhand, I'd say probably 4/10 of those matches would be downtiers.

That's no longer the case, now I'm mostly batted up to 6.7 or 7.0 with those line ups because of the BR changes.

You will not be able to successfully "game" the matchmaker at higher BR ranges because the population density there is very high in both the uptier and downtier spectrum.
