Soft landing award
How does it work? Because it says "land a critically damaged aircraft" but every time I crash I get that award. Crashing isn't landing in my opinion, especially when I smash into a tree at 350 kph. Meanwhile, when I land an aircraft with only one wing without breaking anything but the landing gear, I don't get that award sometimes, so I don't really get the logic behind it

*lands on airport at Mach 5 speed without landing gear, making the engine go on fire and the wings broke*

Exactly

Anykind of landing you can walk away from is a good landing.

Though I don't have anything that can go mach 5, the fastest I've ever gone with an aircraft I own was 800kph, and my wings didn't like that

Yeah, but with some of my "soft landings" my pilot shouldn't anything even slightly resembling legs left

I know, but since there's jets in the game mach 5 probably is a speed you can achieve

If the plane can be reused after landing, it was a premium landing.

You mean repaired and take off, or stripped for parts, because I just crash landed a P-40, lost a wing and a tail, but 3 of the M2 brownings were still good enough to fire

If parts can be reused, it was partly a premium landing.

Well, I have one 'opposite' story.

I've spawned a fighter, got slightly scratched by an enemy AA. Max 7.62 cal, no damage at all.

Tried to land as usually in order to reload (cause I've been out of ammo due to fighting other planes).

Ran out of landing strip due to insufficient braking force and length of the strip. Missed it. Stopped around 200 yards after it.

Gaijin: Plane destroyed. Credit goes to the AA (who probably forgot that they encountered me at that point). No soft landing reward. No nothing. Pay repair costs.
That's just Gaijin's way of saying ♥♥♥♥ you, now pay us

I think if your pilot survives any crash its a soft landing and it might honestly be a joke by Gaijin lol

If the pilot is alive, any landing where you took a crit or two is a soft one. After all, the pilot is the critical part of any plane and good pilots costs arms and legs to afford.

Ok, that explains a lot, thanks
