I enjoyed flyin that aircraft. Perfect for boom and zoom tactics. The cannon and 50s really shred anything in its path. Practice...practice and more practice. ;-)

Avoid dogfights, try to boom and zoom more. Just climb at the start of the match, and kill everthing below you

hm, well i crit hit one twice in my zero about 20 minutes ago and it just fly away like I missed or something, didnt smoke or anything. So I dont know about them being that weak, maybe you just had a bad day. or maybe are getting hit in the right spots who knows

I don't know last time last time I did boom and zoom in a P-38 and gues what. A lame HS129 got at my tail and shoot me down. I should have 650 kph at fullspeed. But I got only 570 kph in a dive and it was not a slight dive. He should have only 420 kph at a straight flight compared to 650 kph.
The differnce off 230 kph means that I should make 190 m/s more than he did and we didn't start at the same location so how cut this be?

The hs has nearly a ton of extra weight, it is also very heavy (hence excellent energy retention) and when flying it seems they are just as fast (or faster) as the 217 before it yet is almost agile, in a dive mine has outrun hellcats and corsairs if it gets the jump on them

P38 is really wide so anyone with a FW190 can wreck you if you dont employ crazy evasive maneuvers and stay high
p38 is underpreforming....those engines should have you climbing above everyone else...but alas russian bias....

Is it russian? No? Well there's your problem, that'll be 100k SL.

The plane is easy to fly if you just boom and zoom in it

Climbs good and has a powerful punch, turning is bad. Thats all you need to know to fly that plane. Its good if used right.

This game doesn't do the 38 justice. The Lightning was a fast, agile aircraft that made the "Roping" maneuver famous. This game makes it feel like your flying an A-20/B25 when in reality the Lightning could turn reletivily good for it's size. I wish they would redo the flight model more accuratly.

Fun Fact: The Lightning held many records in its day. Like the first Aircraft to reach 400mph on normal power. It was also the aircraft chosen to shoot down Yamamoto's plane due to the Lightnings range and speed.
It also still holds the record as the only confirmed U.S aircraft to get a mid-air kill while gliding. The Lightning's engines stalled out while giving chase and shut off but the pilot was still able to get his kill while gliding.
