FV4004 Conway: IS Hunter - Discussion

so War Thunder announced the FV4004 Conway, which was effectively designed after seeing the IS3's at the victory parade. (dev blog here for anyone interested: http://warthunder.com/en/devblog/current/872)
Note that down, specifically designed to take out IS3's.
It has a same, or similar, gun to the Conqueror tank. But it's on the chasis of the Centurion MK3. (with no modifications at all) which means it's as slow as a Centurion, has the armour values of a Centurion, which isn't great. A Tiger 1 can pen the front glacias at close range. But is has a high profile turret. Which according to the devblog actually provides protection, despite it's looks due to 130mm armour. And it's going to be at Rank V.
130mm frontal armour, protection? At Rank V?! Don't make me giggle. 130mm of relatively flat armour is barely anything.

Now onto the note, if this thing is made to take on IS3's, it will be a literal outrage if it's BR is higher than the IS3. The only advantage it has over the IS3 is the gun.
I eargerly await more news on patch 1.57, and hope they announce some high tier German tanks soon. And what the BR of this Conway is going to be.

In regards to armor, who cares at Tier V? The only thing you want in Tier V is to have decently thick armor at a high angle, which the turret is somewhat shaped like a SU-100Y (which is quite good at bouncing shells). The Leopard I turret mantle is 100mm thick at 34 degrees and it STILL bounces my T-54's HEATFS. Remember that it is a TD so it is ment to keep its range (sort of like the Conqueror) and if it is the same L1A1 gun with APDS, it will shread right through the IS-3 with APDS. The Conqueror has been my favourite tank to take out IS-3's but it has a bit more trouble with the IS-4M.

In the end, I don't see it being THAT effective, but it will be nice to have a Tier V British TD.

I can just see this being a pointless tank. A good gun, and it'll be over tier'd and useless.
Even if you get the first shot in, you're as good as dead.
It'll be like the Jadpanzer 4-5. Looks cool, but ultimately pointless and no one will use it seriously.

If your first shot is good, (at 1,493m/s, its hard to miss) you can take out most Soviet tanks in 1 shot. The IS-3 and T-54's, you can hit the driver, gunner, and commander in a single shot and the L1A1 goes right through the armor. Top American armor is a little tougher though and the Germans, well, depends on the tank. The Conqueror sits at 7.7 so I would guess the Conway to be between 7.0-7.7. The only bad part in the 6.7-7.7 range is not trouble penning the Soviets, but the sheer swarm of T-54's.

I see it as a great long range killer (Tier V Soviets suffer at range) but up close, the Soviet swarm will consume you within seconds. Biggest threat (in my Conqueror time) would be a Leopard I and IS-4M (M60 if you face the US, but Brits are usually mixed with them).
