im at 6.3 researching 6.7 is 2 and wondering if i should research all the columns as i go down or just one

First of all if you look at the left side of your tech tree you will see that it is divided by ranks. In order to be able to research and buy vehicles of, say, rank 5, you will need to own certain amount of vehicles from rank 4, and you will not have enough if you don't research 2-3 columns.
Second, if you don't have a good number of vehicles at roughly the same BR you won't be able to form proper setups, which will hurt your battle effectiveness, your winrate, your research progress and your karma (people who leave after 1 death will go to hell after they die)

One column = a noncompetitive, mostly useless lineup

All columns = a competitive, versatile lineup actually worth playing.

research what you like the most then learn how to play on it that's it
what's the point of playing the game on something you don't like?

I would recommend researching everything. I usually only play a 'lineup' if it has 3 vehicles at the same BR.

just sucks because on my main i got high tier and i want to get to them on this one but i sometimes forget how bad the grind was

do not afraid of bringing something couple of BRs lower simply because it is 4.3 or smth
When I was playing with my friend who researched USSR tree at the time on 7.7 I often brought chi-nu II to farm "skill matter" tag
Simply because at least half of your enemy team would consist of leo 1/spz bmp and other stuff that can be easily penetrated by chi-nu's shell plus it has so much filler in it's APHE that you can also oneshot every single american tank that has bumpy cupola
With this set in mind you can have t34-85 in your "line-up" up to 8.3 and perform fine

I play something else
I only main japan and even tho I have leclercs and t80 and stuff I don't bother researching the rest of the tree because I don't care about top tier on any other nation since I find other nation mbts boring
Especially american ones

I'd rather spend the rest of my days on LAV than have 1 match on m1a2 SEP
