The SL boxes are a great SL skink if you have really nothing to spend them on at the moment. Although don't expect much from the boxes as any real reward is extremely low %.

The Snowmen are 10000SL and the carrots are 50000SL you need both and can get
SL/booster/backup/wagers/orders with a very slight chance at a vehicle that can no longer be bought.
I buy these for the boosters and backup to help research new vehicles or modules to up grade. I like certain wagers (kill 5 and kill 10 )(3 and 5 in realistic) and I like best Squad wagers for when I team up with other players.
I have 72 million SL and plan on spending about 6 million (buy them 10 at a time so I don't get more booster then I can use before they expire)

I don’t want to sound mean but with six million SL you might want to spend it on something else, like training your crew or saving SL for when you get into later BRs(if that is something you want to do)where the vehicles cost one million SL a piece. The SL crates have an extremely low chance of giving you something good even if you spend tens of millions of SL on them.
If you are strictly a low tier player or someone who plays the same lineups over and over and doesn’t want to change them, then yea spending your SL on crates is probably alright. Even if you’re not spending a bit of SL on them won’t hurt, just don’t expect any of the good rewards.

Most end game players save their SL for the loot boxes that come around every few months(based on holidays usually).

Don't expect to get any vehicles, the chances are abysmal and plenty of people have spent 50 million+ SL, and still gotten nothing or if they're lucky, a single vehicle.
