You have to get a radar lock on your target first.
Only then you can activate the missile seeker for the sparrows which will then also detect that lock (two red circles) and you can fire.

Your lock needs to stay on the target in order for your sparrows to make its way to your target and destroy it.

You have to get a radar lock on target, then the target has to be within range and is identified on the right side of the radar display with two longer horizontal lines and the target itself is the single shorter horizontal line, the target line must be between the two longer horizontal lines for it to be in range, in some cases you might lock up someone who is within range but moving away where the missile knows it wont be able to catch up so it won't let you launch.

Sparrows are semi active radar homing, as opposed to sidewinders which are IR seekers.

What this means is they are both passive, they only have receivers to home in on a particular frequency

In the sidewinders case that is IR radiation, ie heat from the targets engine

For sparrows what the seeker is looking for is the reflection of its parent aircraft’s radar lock

You need to bind a key for radar lock if you haven’t already, once you have a radar lock when you turn on the seeker of the sparrow that is what it will home in on

You need to turn on the brain first, because then you'd know the sparrow and sidewinder are in two different categories of air to air missiles.

If it's not working after your radar locks and both red circles are filled, make sure you have the Sparrows selected in the secondary weapon selection and you're hitting the right keybind. Sometimes Warthunder will mess up your keybinds after an update so double check the binds for radar lock and launching missiles (you need to press again after the two red circles, just like for sidewinders).
https://youtu.be/v8j3kJwm_Eg?t=849 watch this for a video demonstration

If you're hitting the right keybinds after you get the two red circles and the missile still doesn't even launch, I think you have some kind of bug or error.
