Uhhh, Japan is gonna get an F-15 next update
Japan: Getting the best version of the F-15 of the three nations receiving it added to the game along with probably the best IR in the game that Gaijin basically has to make up stats for because it's still mostly classified
What more do you want? They are getting an f15 and in the f16aj devblog months ago they said it was just a placeholder because the game isn’t ready for something like the Mitsubishi f2 viper. Japan isn’t exactly swimming in options for modern vehicles

As to ww2 sure they could add more variants of things but the cream of the crop is already there. I wouldn’t mind more but I know im in the minority having played those same ww2 vehicles for years. It’s not where the profits are so expect to only be thrown the occasional bone
Japan is not only getting an F15 in the very next update, but if I'm not mistaken is the best one of all the 3 variants introduced

Also remember they got the F16AJ which is an absolute beast and the Type 81 which was so much needed

Not sure tbh, it’s supposed to be an early version of the j which is supposed to be closer to the A than the C from what I read, though got nothing concrete

The usual shenanigans from congress not wanting to sell the more advanced electronics to foreign buyers

While Japan is lacking in options (and they definitively need a new IFV for top tier), they have a very competitive and strong top tier lineup in ground. In case of additions France, Italy and Israel need it more. Regardless, none of these factions nor Japan give that much in income so when updates roll out the big 3 are going to get the shinier stuff sooner than others.

Don't forget that the current track record indicates that they will probably get the Mitsubishi F-2 at some point in the next 18 months as all the air trees move into 1990s-2000s planes.
I didnt know it was getting F15 my bad, but thats good
The F-15J is normally supposed to be an F-15C BUT the first few that Japan got IRL were F-15A's. The F-15J we are getting in War Thunder is one of the early F-15J's AKA an F-15A with the trade-off of better missiles for less/less-viable ground attack options

They should also eventually be able to get an F-15J Kai right? just like with the F-4EJ?

yea, same with the mitsubishi F-2's coming in to eventually continue the F-16 line at some point.

really only thing left for japanese air in terms of modern air superiority is the F-15J Kai, F-2, and F-35 (not counting trainers like the F-15DJ). Honestly, I really just want them to add the prototype F-2A Super Kai (the plane that lost the bid to the F-35).

It'll probably be necessary if they end up going past 2000 in terms aircraft, since Japan would otherwise be left with the short end of the stick.

Given the f2 got AESA in 1995, years before anyone else, an arbitrary 2000 cutoff would leave them with the best radar in the game

Yes, but that is assuming the snail bothers to actually model the features of AESA radars at all and doesn't just go "eh, just make it a buffed PESA and we'll call it good."

Good to know though, thanks for the info!
