Cheating Scandal (Over 40K players banned).
Can we get an apology from people saying that it was only ''muhh skill issue''...
Basically, the story is: A Chinese player leaked the source code of mostly Chinese cheat-makers to Gaijin and got this huge number of cheaters and botters banned, most of them from certain region in asia...again, this is not racist, just stating the statistics and having the solution of region-locking would help. World of Tanks features it and it was never called r@cist for it...and most console games actually feature region-lock...and oh, here comes the ban because saying this is supposedly bad...and the community managers never reply to any appeals...have fun in now (mostly) cheater (and bot) free WT for like a week.

What's hard to understand?

"1.1.15. Discuss usage of cheats, hacks, illegal golden eagle farming or any related topic."

and 40k compared to the size of the playerbase was roughly what people expected.

I don't think they specified what platforms (Steam, their own launcher or consoles).
But on Steam we have approximately 90k active players with a peak of 114k.
40k players are quite the deal, it's not like they banned 10k or 15k.

I mean Gaijin *could* make an official statement at some point instead of deleting any form of evidence on the forum

That's because the patch just dropped... it always fluctuates.

You think those same 90k are playing for 24 hours a day 7 days a week?

Two hours from now it'll be mostly different players other than the tiny percentage of tryhards grinding.

Today I'm learning that more people than I thought struggle with statistical literacy.

i got banned for a time for asking about nationalistic symbols since it is alolowed in most games about war. it was reality and history, like war thunder is all about it since we can bomb on vietnam and afghanistan maps

Why would they need to, it's not like this is new. We've had ban waves before, hell even content creators got struck for speaking about cheaters on the game like phlydaly years ago on the basis it spreads awareness for cheats

Nobody said anything about those players being 24/7 in War Thunder.
I mentioned the FACT that 40.000 is not a low number, it's actually quite nasty if all of those were cheaters.

i love the fact that warthunder used the infos to ban the players

40k is a massive number but 40k is only a small fraction of total player base if every hour you got a fully fresh set of 90k players.

I'd say the average as of late is 100k online at any time during the day lately.
so if every 2 hours it's all new players then we have 1.2 mil unique players a day.
let's round down to 1mil for those that stay on longer.

the 40k is only 4% of all players.
