War Thunder

Zobrazit statistiky:
IR missile seeks cold engines
So I was flying the La-200 and while I was climbing I heard an IR missile getting close, so I turned off the engine and the missile exploded (self destruct). I glided with engines off to get away to avoid getting locked and suddenly I heard a plane coming (really far, but enough to hear it) and out of nowhere I got hit by another IR missile while my engines still powered off. Any explanation? As far as I know, early missiles can't track cold engines (<200ºC or something like that)

[EDIT]: It was an Rb24

No idea how Gaijin has implemented it, but the RB24 is a AIM-9P3 Sidewinder.
that 200 something is ur engine temp.
the exhaust (yes even if turned off there is airflow) is still hotter.
even props are hot enough to be tracked.
the first self-guided`s were ment to hunt prop bombers like the tu4.
though i dont know wich part of the engine the temps are taken
from or if it`s a estimate of all.
iirc in irl those sensors are after compressor but before the burner chamber.
but i dont know if i missrember this.

tldr: if he was close enough the could see u.

no quiet right.
rb24 is just index of the sweds for the aim9 series.
rb is short for "robot" wich is the sweds word for "missile"

e: i looked it up it seem the rb24j is the aim9p3 with a swedish lazer fuse
and rb74 is a aim9L (goes by rb24L too sometimes)

RB24 is literally just a copy pasted AIM-9B, same goes for R3S
