Is it worth grinding at a lower BR for a higher tier vehicle?
As the title says...Im looking into buying a couple premium vehicles across several nations, seems like a 4.0-6.0 would be the optimal choice of BR's for me to look into being majority of the nations are around that BR range for me that I have unlocked. Is it worth buying that tier premium vehicle even if the BR I am trying to unlock is higher?

Lets say for example...a 4.0 plane being used to grind out say a 6.0-7.0 plane. I know people say get premium vehicles for that SL/RP bonus but I just want the best bang for my buck. In addition to people saying just have fun at the tier you enjoy Its tough playing at higher BR's for me. Any input is appreciated!

For efficiently grinding, no.... Its a shame but grinding above research efficiency of your vehicle results in reduced RP rewards. The most efficient method is getting a top tier premium, which has efficiency in all ranks (for planes a rank 7 plane)

BUT that being said, play what you like. Lower tiers are still quite fun to play and if you enjoy it alot go ahead and still play them.

I should probably clarify research efficiency, for normal TT vehicles, you have 100% efficiency researching anything 1 rank above and below the vehicles rank, while premiums have efficiency for all ranks below and 1 rank above.

The optimal research range for vehicles is +/- 1 rank. So if you have a rank 3 vehicle and you want to research rank 4, you are fine. If you however want to research a rank 5 or 6 vehicle with your rank 3, you'll get a hefty penalty on research points. Premium vehicles can research every rank below them with full efficiency. Note that rank isn't the same as br

Hmm okay I gotcha. Hence why players buy modern jets/tanks and just grind from there. Thank you that helps my decision making then regarding what I MIGHT purchase...thats tough to admit hah!

Thank you for clarifying that! I was getting confused BR versus rank so I definitely will look more closely at that before purchasing something!
I would personally suggest only buying premiums that look genuinely fun rather than 'efficient' for grinding or money making or whatever else. I mean I like my T-35 (Russian 3 turret tank with 10 crew) more than I like my Russian heavy tank premium. Even though the T-35 is at 1.3 BR and the T-10 is at 7.7 BR. Give or take idk if it changes between modes for those two.

No the Game penalizes you for researching anything below or above your Rank unless you play a Top Tier Premium...

Wrong.

Wrong.

And what exactly is wrong about it? Literally says it in the Game that your research effiency is only at your Rank +/-1, if you research something lower than that for example the Maus with the Leopard 2A6 you get barely any RP at all for the researched Vehicle or if you were to research the Leo 2A6 with the Tiger II Premium (or normal ones) you won't get any RP for the Vehicle either (at best a few hundred)

Only with a Top Tier Premium do you get full RP for Ranks below and since there is no much further going up in the Ranks so far you can research the whole Tree with it and thats what the Game encourages to do

Aaron is right on this, all premium vehicle hava a efficient research-window down to Rank I and one Rank higher than their own rank, wheras tech tree vehicles only research effectively 1 Rank down and 1 Rank up.

Example, the Russian ships Chapayev (tech tree) and Zheleznyakov (premium), both Rank IV and looking at the stats (performance, armor, crew size) absolutely identical ships:

Chapayev researches without penalty from Rank IIi to V...
Zheleznyakov without penalty from Rank I do V, the whole stretch from bottom up.

It's the same with all premium, event premium, and package vehicles.
