Although correct, they retained the class prefix within the name of all the boats in this class so it not correct just to refer to it as 'HMS Archer'
The class prefix was retained for all ships of the they Gay class. There was also a Gay Bruiser, a Gay Cavalier and a Gay Forester.
Yes and no. Gay was indeed the class, but it was also in all the names of the ships in that class.
There was the HMS Gay Archer, HMS Gay Charioteer, HMS Gay Bruiser, so on and so forth.
