This game's balancing is really bad, thoughts?
Just hit 100 hours and, while most of what I've seen is good or fine, there is one huge issue with the game: matchmaking/team balancing. In most multiplayer PvP games the majority of games played will feel like you and the enemy team are matched in terms of skill--it feels difficult (but not impossible) to win and both teams are preforming well
In War Thunder the norm is your team either punts the enemy or they steamroll you. There is rarely an in-between where the teams feel balanced and it's a good, fair fight. One side will hold most of the points for pretty much the entire game and it's plain not fun if you happen to be on the team that's getting their teeth kicked in. If you're on the side that's absolutely dominating you might be having more fun but you're still missing the competitive toe-to-toe feel
It's not me being trash at the game, either. Yeah there's games where I suck and can't pull my weight but if our team is losing and I spectate for a bit it's pretty obvious it's our whole team (except maybe the top guys) getting dunked on and not just me

I don't know why this is; poor matchmaking, downtiers for the majority of players on one team, etc. but I genuinely hate it, which sucks because when the game IS going well and is balanced it's very fun
Ultimately it just feels like the game's outcome is decided before you even start playing

What made you think it was any good in the first place. I'm a veteran this 2011 when it was brand new. And it was always like that

Crazy that you're a veteran of this game from before it even existed...

People will lie about the craziest things to try to crap on the game

Before you open your big mouth. Get to know people before that. And then tell him that they're a liar. 2011 is when it came out. And I've got replays of how it was all the time. Never changing and I keep hearing the same story upstairs the same upstairs they're complaining about.

I dont think gaijin has ever considered added a skill based matchmaking mode or system, and tbh i dont think it even matters that much. Level doesn't equal skill, so gaijin would have to make an entire system around skill, which all it sounds like is a big ass headache

I just take this game casually, dont treat it as a competitve game like CSGO, its more casual IMO than other pvp team games. That being said they might try to introduce something for people wanting that kinda stuff, but i honestly doubt they'll ever go down that road.

It's meh at balancing. Just learn how to angle certain tanks, don't rush a whole lot unless you're in a speedy tank. I get up tiered a lot and punish them still.

Uh, I don't know what multiplayer PvP games you've played in your time, but there are plenty that can have experiences where one team steamrolls another. Battlefield, COD, World of Tanks, Left 4 Dead versus, just to name a few.

What you're looking for is "Skill based Matchmaking," which is something that is not going to exist in War Thunder. From Gaijin's perspective, this would increase queue times to create matches which is not something they're will to do (and is also another issue with BR compression in certain Battle Rating ranges that cause lopsided matches).

If you want a more competitive experience, join the War Thunder tournaments that pop up on occasion. You can also join Custom Battles/Groups that offer a more tailored experience in that regard as well.

Outside of that, Balancing is always going to be based around Battle Rating, and that's perfectly fine.

Its more the nature of how the game itself plays. It has a tendency to snowball, so when one team starts getting kills, the other usually folds faster.

Though there's always matches where your entire team spawns on one side of the map, only drives straight at the other team's spawn like a bunch of bots and die to the like 2 players on their team that flanked.

Useless stock US cold war tank VS HEATFS is BaLaNcE.

that's generally how that goes irl, one side gets a tiny advantage and it just gets worse and worse for the disadvantaged. Rrarely is there ever a tooth and nail 2 men remaining fight

True the times you make a come back when it seems all is lost do happen but they are exrtremly rare.
Tbh in normal warfare the same mechanism applies once you start losing to many lives its basic math that take over and give you a disatvantage , more guns on the other side is more lead coming your way.
