Saved controls not working
I recently built a new computer. Like a good boy I saved my controls on the previous PC to a .blk file and transferred them to a USB.

The new computer is up and running and WT is installed. However, when I load up the control file, nothing happens, nothing.

I've restarted the game, nothing changes. Am I missing something?

From what you wrote, I can't see where you might have gone wrong. My son and I do this all the time - when he comes to visit and want's to play WT on our computers so he can use his own control setup.

Note: you should not need to restart WT to have the imported controls take effect. Start a test battle and see if the controls are proper. If not, you'll need to carefully backtrack and figure out where things went wrong.

I don't think you understood the question.

Yea I'm at a loss. There's not anything special I have to do right? It should just work. I've never done this before as this is my first new computer in a long time.

I guess I'll just start remapping...everything. :(

If I assume you correctly exported your controls to your memory stick. The 2nd part would be to insert your memory stick in the new PC; start war thunder, then in WT navigate options->controls-> and import the file on your memory stick into WT. Exit the controls menu, and if it was done correctly your new pc should have the same controls set as the old one - ready to go.
That's exactly what I did. I am assuming I exported the controls right. As it is just, hit save, and move that file.

For whatever reason, it is just not working out that way.

It sounds like you're trying to load it straight from the USB drive.
Move it from the USB drive to the folder the control schemes should be located.
C:\\Users\{username}\Documents\My Games\WarThunder\Saves

The folder may not exist until you create and save a control layout. So make a dummy save and then locate the folder they're saved to and copy your old one over. If you don't do it this way you have to give WT permissions to the file on the USB drive.

This could be it. I did move the file off the USB, but was trying to load it from the desktop assuming it would populate the proper folder.

You're saying I have to drop it in the proper folder, then load it. I'll try that today.
So, sadly, that not only didn't work, but it also made it a little worse somehow.

Placing the .blk file into the save folder, not only did not load my controls in, but reset the work I did last night back to default. :lunar2019crylaughingpig: :steammocking:

I'll just accept that I will redo the controls before I begin playing/streaming.

Thanks for the help.

You've given it a good effort. Your goal is to play WT not manage files.

(I've never liked WT's custom dialog for saving/loading control configurations. They work, but when you type a path name, that path & file name notation can be a bit different (depends on the length of the names) than what people see in Windows. I think it would be easier/better for players if they simply had use the standard, familiar, Windows dialogs for saving & loading config files.)

Sounds like your file contains default controls, either through your mistake or some kind of bug.

I guess it always could be my mistake. I don't know how I would have accidentally reset all of my controls to default right before I save the controls.

I'm assuming this is just a mild error but I'm essentially done redoing all the controls. I'm just tweaking sensitivities at this point.
