I could cite you so many examples of me trying to tell my team to do the simplest of actions and they just flat out refuse to do it. Like one example would be a match where the enemy was down to their last pillbox and I was begging my last 3 remaining teammates with bombs to PLEASE bomb this one pillbox so we can win and guess what? I was spectating the match for 10 minutes and watching those 3 clowns continuing to bomb the airfield at which point we lost cuz we ran out of tickets ourselves.
Trust me... no one reads chat anyway... no one cares. I don't know why but that is how it is in this game game so personally I don't mind if they keep it the way it is at the moment even if it is annoying or if they completely turn it off again.
Another example would be trying to ask for someone to repair you if you are in a new vehicle and don't have the parts unlocked yet. Everyone will just drive past you and not give a **** but that is probably partly because Gaijin made repairing teammates so unrewarding that no one wastes their time doing that anymore...
For me War Thunder is like a singleplayer game where my teammates behave more like AI bots than real human beings so that is the way that I play it too these days and I don't need chat to talk to NPCs if that makes sense :P
