How do you consistently kill russian bvms from the frontside?
Lower plate is just not reliable.. i get them like 60% of the time
the driver absorbs the shot or something and the ammo turns orange/red and wont explode

this topic is not about crying or anything, i want to learn how to counter them if thats possible

thanks for the help in advance

If you're already shooting at the driver optics, then you're doing everything you can and the only suggestion is to pray you actually do damage instead of the shell being eaten by the optics and/or the driver.

Can try shooting through the lower plate if they are at a significant enough distance for the shell to have the angle on the ammo instead of just passing through the belly.

The one shot from the front is rare and depend on the crew vitality of the target, but....

-Gun trunion region, the turret cheeks close to the gun always break the breach and at least one crew member KO.
-The driver hatch, optics, do the same with much more chances to hit amo, like on T80's.

Yes there are many exemples of soviet era armor destroyed but it doesn't tell you how easy it is to disable them.
There are few others exemples with western armor like the Turkishs Leo2 in syria, US abrams in Irak and even a leclerc one in yemen.
I prefer to be cautious.

That's a very iffy shot due to all the volumetric angles that will eat the shell unless you get really lucky. As a panic shot spot it's fine but otherwise ill-advised.

Unfortunately you are doing it correctly the bvm is most likely the strongest top tier tank (Strv is also good but it doesnt give you free passes for your mistakes like the bvm)

The only advice i can give is to always have a retreat plan since the bvm has a 1/3 chance to survive a kill shot with no consequences. Killing a bvm is a roll of the dice so if your looking for a reliable way to kill one it doesn't exist.

That being said i often find they tend to exclusively use brute force rushes so use ambushes and fighting retreats(Kill then fall back before the rest can rush you) can thin their numbers.

Im sorry i couldn't be more helpful

Hard disagree that spot is hard to hit and the breach is way tougher then you think so unless you land it right under the barrel its wont disable

I made some magic ricochet over the years, even ghost shells. I don't fear the russian volumetric armor cheeks, even if what you mean is true.

There is one but it's extremely situational and counter-intuitive if you do end up in that situation. The turret from the side directly, just behind the ERA cheek, should knock out the commander and gunner.

The obvious shot in that situation is the ammo carousel, but the ammo is doused in magic water that prevents it from detonating upon multiple direct hits most of the time, so the turret shot is worth going for if you remember to.

I did pen theses cheeks many times with the leclerc, and it almost always disable the breach and put the turrets members in shades of yellow/red.

I agree it's hard, maybe the years of fighting against Tigers 2 help me to not fear theses kind of shots. When the only way to pen them was the turret front sides most of the time above 600-750m, helped.

With the turret dysync bug im a bit cautious with doing that though hopefully they will fix that

One thing to consider is that due to how fast things are happening, it's best to look for shots that can kill the target rather than disable it. A tank with a broken breech can reverse and repair, creating more issues in positioning.

Let's be honest, thoses T-xx in top tiers are a pain, and need some balancing.
I almost never 1shot from the front, but thoses tips we are gathering are all good.
The russians tanks are not good in reverse speed, most of the time they start to run with smoke anywhere, showing sides or even the rear to the team in urban fighting. I think it's better than nothing.

Lower plate AND more to the right side, that's the sweet spot, if you can take them a bit in diagonal and ahove the shell into the fuel tank through the track they will go down quite easy

That mostly only works for 600mm + shells less then that and the fuel tank poses a serious risk of shell deletion.

While slow in reverse it is sufficient for them to pull back into cover besides for most situations other tanks wont be going in reverse long enough to hit max speed so its more down to the acceleration in reverse which they are not to far behind.

One other weekness though its more the players then the vehicle as a result of the tendency to zerg/blitzkrieg rush they are oftern very predictable since they are likely unaware of the map situation so if you take up a uncommon position odds are they will drive right past you allowing you to clean house once from behind the enemy lines

Just shoot beside the cannon. Generally knocks out the breech and at least one crew member. Consistent on the strv 122 so I assume things with better rounds wouldn't have an issue.

Idk i always reliably kill russian tanks in the lower front plate. When im playing russian tanks 90% of the deaths i have are from the lower front plate
