Why is APDS a terrible shell?

Every tank I pen it's like shrapnel in the world of war thunder is not scary. I feel if they were modeled correctly APDS would be a scary shell due to how much shrapnel would be sent into the crew. ♥♥♥♥ they should just remove helmets from war thunder at this point as they clearly don't have to worry about shrapnel.

It only became bad since an update around March I think, its still usable but you have to shoot at things that dont have composite or layered armor for it to work or else youll risk a shatter most of the time.

War Thunder doesn't simulate damage in the way these shells are designed to cause.

it's broken atm, it doesn't perform how it should and just shatters 100% of the time on pen making it useless against any form of spaced armor

Gaijin borked the penetration code so they shatter against like everything for no reason now

I can't agree here I play with the German bulldog and ones hot most tanks with his apds shot

I can't agree here I play with the German bulldog and ones hot most tanks with his apds shot

Yeah because there is no spaced/composite armor at its BR range so theres nothing to worry about most of the time even though ive seen APDS shatter on a bt-5 once

There's no way you take out the German Bulldog with SABOT... The HEATFS is borderline broken at it's BR and makes it the best bulldog modification in the game.

That was the case before but now m41 apds has more pen than it used to and because there is no layered armor to break the shell, its actually good, ive killed dozens of russian tanks in one shot to the face.

It works great against every tank that has a tight crew and it can now reliably pen heavies from the front like the T34

Can anyone confirm if APDS is being fixed in the update, someone on Reddit showcased that it was fixed on the dev server but no one is talking about it

I've been addicted to the Challenger for a while and I can tell you they mess with APDS rounds very frequently and they act differently all the time.
They are in shatter mode atm... they are as broken as I've ever seen them and they are always pretty-much broken lol.
