If you compare with similar games (world of tanks, world of warships) is ten times worse. I'm talking about economics. War Thunder close to the worst Asian mobile games.
no its not, even with premium account and premium vehicles you will have a bad time grinding, unless you dont have a life, and even so you will. So don't come around telling bs to new guys, I would NOT recommend this game to ANY new player EVER. One time I tried calling some friends, the only one that plays with me literally told me "bro how can you even try to bait people into this trap". Thats how bad it is
And?
For example, the developers of world of warships posted a meme about the crappy economy of War Thunder and gave players a premium account.
War Thunder developers will not give 3 days premium to anyone, even after a giant scandal.
Or the world of tanks. They reduced the prices. Most expensive premium tanks cost 1763 rubles ($22), SU-39 now costs 4549 rubles ($56)
200 hours and I'm on tier 4 of 10.
Each tier takes longer than the last. Tanks at this stage are taking hundreds of matches to unlock. To unlock all the F2P tanks for a single faction, I would bet it takes at least 1000 hours and I suspect that is conservative.
This is not like every free to play game out there. It is at the extreme end of torturously grindy.
If you rush the grind you will regret.
I can see though that for some players the grind can be bad, if you only want to play lets say one mode and really like one vehicle. When I want to grind I would try a few ways to see what was most efficient or if I need to pick something that I have fun playing.
If you fill that reasonable is unlocking all 1000+ vehicles in game in like a year then I dont know what to tell you.
I play with a friend. he focused only on the USSR ground tree to have any kind of relevant progress. He got to BR 10.0 in roughly 2 years. Also with premium, but he plays more casual then me.
The grind gets exponetionally longer with each rank. You will get nowhere past rank 3 by playing casually. Rank 4 is when F2P becomes unviable and you need premium account.
The economy and grind is getting worse every year. Vehicles are getting added contantly while the game by now is bloated by over 2000 vehicles allready. Ways of getting points are getting removed from the game, for example, you used to get points for bouncing shots, using your armor. That got removed along with alot of other nerfs. Spotting is useless nowdays and the points earned have diminishing returns the longer and better you are in a match. You need to do more to get less.
Why? Coz they want you to buy 60€ vehicle packs to help with the grind and SL farming. And everytime they release a new one, everyone buys them. Teams are full of them. People have no sense of value. You can buy several game franchises on steam sales for 60€ instead of a pixel vehicle you get bored of in a week. Its insane.
I hope this helps, I'm being honest and real with you so you know what to expect. The game is great mechanically, and can be both bun as well as very frustrating. But it is twisted and molded into being a money making grind machine by Gaijin.
It gets to be a lot. Around 6.7+ you're gonna be paying a lot for individual vehicles, probably close to 800k-1mil SL based on the country. And it is gonna slow your grind a lot, even if you pay for premium which increases your gain. You can look at some of the other threads and see people having really good games, the ones that come once in a while, and earning really poorly when it comes to research or SL.
