Also if you purchased a top tier aircraft, then you should be checking on tutorials online on how to use them. As Gaijin doesn't provide the information nor keybinds to use them properly.
Defyn is a player that focuses on creating victory conditions within an Air RB match and provides invaluable insight into how you should operate a given aircraft, and just simply make you a better air-to-air combatant in general.
Tim's Variety focuses on the more technical aspects of a given aircraft. What's its individual strengths, how do the weapons operate efficiently, what are its weaknesses etc. He also has general guides for Missiles and Radar, which are both important to understanding your aircraft and the opponents you'll run into.
Another thing you can do is join Custom Battles lobbies. There are plenty of lobbies that will enable you to practice your air-to-air combat knowledge against actual players, which is more valuable over all. Custom Battles do not contribute to SL and RP gains, but it's a great live test environment.
If you've completely run out of SL, use your Reserve aircraft and practice Basic Flight Maneuvers while farming Silver Lions. You'll need to spend some time in the Reserve ranks to earn a healthy amount of SL again, but that is simply what you need to do to get out of the hole you've created.
Once you've gotten a comfortable amount of SL, start taking what you've learned into combat to earn rewards with your jet.
I hate to tell you but you fell victim to the very thing people are protesting right now. I wish I had more helpful advice for you.
So, as I said. Good luck.
Someone should mention crew skills - you can upgrade the crews for your vehicles and improve them in multiple areas. Doing this by playing naturally takes (considerable) time. In this specific as you have a pilot with no or low stamina/g-force tolerance - not great for something as fast as a jet once you try to pull a manoeuvre as it will create intense g-force. At low level you will pass out turning hard in a prop plane. For this reason and general game knowledge it is very valuable to start at lower tiers.
Then on top of that, getting an expert crew, and eventually grinding to a Ace Crew (or buying it flat out for some GE) further improves it.
Not sure what jet you bought, but look up some gameplay footage and recent commentary on it. As well as learning the different systems and how to use/counter them.
