I did play a bunch of games in my La's recently and it was painful just painful. If it didn't say 20 mm on the statcard I honestly would think I am firing 7 mm rounds judging from the damage (or lack thereof) that I am doing.
I hope they change it back at some point but mostly I am just trying to avoid flying any planes with Shvaks cannons these days.
Let me just say that the Shvak is by far not the only cannon that feels terribly after this update though. Some of the Japanese 20 mm HE also feel HORRENDOUS...
Same here, the 50cals does more damage than the 20mm shvak. I need to sit behind and mag dump 50 rounds of he just for a fire.
They all feel equally bad
I did actually bother to try out every single belt and I didn't notice any difference. Whether you use the "Armoured Targets" or "Ground Targets" or "Universal" or "Stealth" you will not really notice a difference. Regardless of what belt you use you will mostly need to roughly put 30-40 rounds into a really vulnerable spot, preferably directly into the cockpit to see any result at all.
Challenge yourself and randomly set an ammo belt for the Shvak and then play a match and TRY TO GUESS which ammo belt you are currently using. It is impossible.
As the other guy mentioned when I am using a .50 cal for example and I have a default belt with crappy "Ball" and "AP" I will immediately notice how bad it feels compared to a tracer belt full of API-T...
I managed to easily get over a dozen kills in each game with 7.92 mm machine guns but everytime I spawned the specific plane with the HEFI-T shell no matter how often I shot at an enemy plane all I got was "Hit" "Hit" "Hit" "Hit". No incendiary effect, no explosion no damage at all. Just smoke puffs...
The stat card of the specific HEFI-T shell also doesn't have any explosives listed unlike other comparable HEI-T or HEF-T shells that I found. Unfortunately it is only listed correctly on fully homogenous belts that only contain one type of shell so we do not know if this is also the case for the Shvak but that is my concern at the moment.
TLDR: **** is utterly broken. Half of it may be intended but the other half is legitimately bugged and broken.
Best we can do is just not fly the planes with the broken cannons at the moment cuz this will take a long time to fix probably...
Edit: Or to be more precise it is not the cannon but rather the specific HE shells for certain cannons. Some HE shells work fine, others are broken and have no filler (my guess is this is also the case for the HE shells contained in the Shvak cannons).
