Didn't know about the whole mass boycott and protest, left a negative review anyway
I know a little about how the game has (d)evolved, about all the complaints
didn't know about the boycotting and protesting on a mass scale

Just was done when I saw Gaijin lecturing everyone
what a way to dismiss years of criticism in a thinly veiled temper tantrum

so I did what they told me not to, I left my negative review with my genuine feelings towards things
I was just going to log in and play some matches for fun, I don't follow the game's news or the community very closely, but now I'm done.

Looking at the community today makes me feel so bad for the people who put in far more time and had to watch this unfold, and I feel bad for the little guys at Gaijin who just want to do their job (and there's really a lot of talent in the art, research, and other aspects), I don't feel any sympathy for corporate or the product.

I don't think they can. At least in my experience, you cannot touch Steam reviews, you can ask Valve to take a look, but it is on Valve to decide whether or not it breaks their rules.

From what I have seen, mass negative reviews in a situation like this likely won't break any rules.

yeah I think most of what valve did was just add the new graphs and maybe sometimes a label if they think it's an odd volume, but I haven't seen reviews get deleted
even ones that are 90% p.p. jokes lol

Yeah it's in Valves hands. Moderating for a different game forum, moderators (I don't think devs can either) cannot interfere with anything outside of the forum section (cough cough.)

Steams guidelines are also specific about this topic

"Flagging Reviews
There may be some cases where reviews contain inappropriate material, such as scams, harassment, or are otherwise abusive. They are also occasionally reviews that are entirely off-topic and don't relate to your product at all. For these two cases, we have provided tools for flagging reviews for further review.

Flagging should be reserved for clear-cut cases. When in doubt, just allow the players to down vote the review and use the report tool. In most cases, reviews that are off-topic won't be rated as helpful by customers and thus will not appear to many players...

Responding to a review
There may be cases where the reviewer has incorrect information about your product, or may have encountered a bug that has since been resolved. To help keep the community on-track, we have provided tools for developers to respond directly to such reviews.

This response will be visible to anyone who can see the review and will be marked as an official response from the developer...

Though it may be tempting, not every review needs to be responded to."
