Hey so I just noticed this and I feel like an idiot, I thought the BTR was going to be 7.7 uh it's 5.7, oh my god, this thing is going to be painful (oh and thats the SIM BR not RB or AB).

nah i think it will be annoying at most it only has 63mm of pen and its gun fires really slow plus it has no thermals or a gun stabilizer its pretty much just gonna be a worse R3 with slightly more pen.

Same as the new type 87, they're at 5.7 because they have no sabot belts, so they max out at ~60mm

Also no armor or atgms

It's arguably weaker than the BTR-ZD, Sub I-II and R3 T20. I wouldn't worry about it.

Okay I think my words were a little miss leading, by "painful" I meant painful to play because it will be surrounded by well armored tanks while being massive and its able to be killed by nearly anything, it's not even 7.7mm proof and any HE round that hits will will kill it, thankfully the armor is slow low that most shells won't fuse and will simply pass through. I had thought it would be 7.7 and be surrounded by lighter IFV's and enemy tanks firing heat (worst case) and APDS (best case). So yeah.

The R3, this and the 87(P) were all supposed to be 5.7 for this update so they could suffer together lol, at least the R3 and the BTR-80 have decent guns the 87(P) is using that stupid 20mm RH autocannon thats strapped to a lot of german tanks, it can't even deal with BMP's and PT's let alone Panthers and IS-2's, basically anything with more than 40mm of side armor will soak up 20mm shots like a sponge and then swing their turret a turn your turret into a satellite.

It doesn't have stablizer and apds or sabot shell, so it's okay to be in 5.7 or 6.0 or such BR.
Maybe they will add the stab and sabot for a 8.0 or 8.3 with thermal.
It's just another overhype vehicle, just like la royale, with only one FR ground added.

What I dont get is the btr uses the same auto-cannon as the bmp-3 and bmd-4 and both of those have apds. So you would think that it would have apds to. Its also amphibious so a stabilizer is kind of mandatory. And historically it has day and night optics. imo they more than dropped the ball on this one.

Gaijin is remembering the world war 2 way differently then i do. First BRT-ZD that is mostly in the background at least. But with BTR-80A rolling in the frontlines, there is no hiding from the fact world war 2 aesthetics will be ruined completely.

Would be great to get meaningful additions instead. Been waiting for tier 4 US SPAA for years to compete with the Germans they face constantly at that tier.

The R3 uses a functionally identical gun to the Type 87(P) with a 200 RPM higher rate of fire and a lower velocity (so it should have slightly less pen), so anything one can kill the other can kill too
