No, they mean the BTR revealed in the latest trailer. Looks like a 30mm to me.

It's the BTR-80A I believe, so it has standard NVDs, an IR lamp, the 30mm gun, and no stabilizer. I believe that the BTR-82A is the stabilized 30mm one with thermals.

ahh, didnt watch the trailer :) will take a look ^^ Edit: Had a look, and it sure looks like a BTR-80A/BTR-82A (looks like it has a 30mm could be wrong)

It should be the tall unmanned turret with the lamp right above the gun to my memory. The standard BTR-80 just has a 14.5mm in a turret that is shaped like a cast iron skillet.

I assume it would be 30 mm to be competitive. This would be a faster BMP-2. Oh dear.

My ZTZ96A met the BMP-2M frontally twice or thrice last night and came to grief. Those ZTZ96 are horrible, the armour is completely unreliable. :steamsad:

On the bright side, this is a BTR-80A, so it just gets simple APDS instead of the pure MBT-killing APDS-FS belts that the BMP-2M gets. The speed plus autocannon and its nightvision/IR lamp combo could make it disturbingly scary if its will be placed lower in the tree (like 5.0 to 6.0).

Its literally the BTR82 not 80.

The circular IR lamp above the autocanon means it's a BTR-80A which used the 30mm 2A72 dual feed autocannon mounted in the same turret seen on the BTR-82 and BTR-82A.

on the bright side, HMG's can kill it as can HE rounds. So not a total loss

No APDS-FS, phew, that is a relief but like you said it would be scary. Any sign of a mounted ATGM?

Just the autocannon to my knowledge, only a few fringe modifications of the BTR-80/82 hull could be ATGM carriers, and I think most of them were proposed blueprints that got scrapped due to budgetary issues in the 1990s.
