Yeah but why doesnt it drop when it's empty? Doesnt it effect flight performance even if its empty?
Rocket pods are just empty tubes. Gunpods have 1 or more expensive and complex guns in them even when the ammunition is expended. They are vastly different levels of expense. Not to mention I imagine due to the recoil of a gunpod they are more firmly attached to the airframe and cannot be jettisoned even if you were allowed to.

Yes it does but in real life no one designed them to do that in flight because you don’t throw the gun away when it’s out of ammunition, besides the stupid waste of needing new guns every time those you dropped might even end up in enemy hands as in a real example the Germans were so starved of materials they were salvaging allied drop tanks for the metal which led the allies to design paper/resin ones instead

empty containers are fuel drop pods, no one was dumping their cannons when empty

like a p51 dropping all it's 50 cals

I vaguely remember reading somewhere the jettison function for pylons involves shotgun shells loaded into the mechanism, it isn’t gentle

still never heard of it being done for a gun though, can you imagine any government bureaucracy signing the paperwork to authorise throwing away perfectly good weapons
