Don't waste your money on Renown
Gaijin have done the usual and messed up. The armour is buggy as hell leading to 8" shell pens at 15km, into magazines and insta death.

Hi, not sure how many battleships you have played but every single battleship out there is sunk by USS Des Moines more often then by other Battleships. The reason is simple. At 6.3 or above (really 6.0) you encounter more Des Moines then any other ship. She is a heavy cruiser with 9x8inch guns with a high rate of fire. Before she was introduced it was USS Helena a light cruiser that killed battleships. But I would reckon USS cruisers have sunk more battleships then battle ships have sunk other battleships. Of course these cruisers are also what battleships sink more often then any other ship the difference being the cruisers are 3 or 4 times more often to be present in a battle.
Only the most heavily armored battle ships can stand against the deluge of 8inch gun fire.
I have only taken Renown out twice so far. I used one backup so been sunk 3 times with 5 kills. My killsi nclude enemy battleship but all 3 times I was killed by an USS Cruiser.

A Des Moines enjoyer I see. Alaska Class sexier.

My Renowns very first kill was an Alaska
However Des Moines is a heavy cruiser Alaska is a battle cruiser. Battle cruisers are built to sink heavy cruisers.

A couple, but nothing as bad as this... and I just got ammo racked in 2 consecutive games by 6" shells. Gaijin logic!

USS Des moines has more armor then HMS Renown. Inside 10,000 yds 6in AP can pen Renown. Her advantage is stand off range.
It is hard to cap a point and stay beyond range. Don't know why you think a 6in shell is nothing. Especially when they are arriving a dozen at a time. Very few land artillery are larger then 6 inch the most common a 105 is 4 inch a gun considered small on a destroyer.

In BattleStations: Pacific, it states that the Alaska class was a battleship hunter.

Well she was designed to counter the German "pocket Battleships" Her designation as a CB (large cruiser) The "Pocket Battleships" were not battle ships but rather cruisers with larger guns than a heavy cruiser. So to be more precise she was a large cruiser hunter

CB-1 Alaska had 9x12inch guns. What battleship was she supposed to hunt? Because the smallest gun on an IJN BB was 14inch

idk man but I'm not questioning BattleStations: Pacific.

I had to go look. It is another video game. The fact it was CB-1 means nothing. The plan was to send a 12inch gun after 14inch guns makes sense to you

Just for the record I don't use 6in ships other then the second or third ship in a battle

(also there are no battleships on this list)

Let me grab a screencap of the latest one, I just killed a fellow Renown by ammo racking him with the 4.5 AP round at 11000 yd.
