Stinger missile
Why can the stinger missile not lock onto a helicopter that is 2.7km away but the Mistral SATCP of the italians can lock upto 4-5km onto helicopters which has the same lock on range on rear and all aspect and uses the same guidance. im pretty sure the stinger missile was even designed for helicopters in the vietnam war and could be used on longer ranges, but yet cant pick up a ka-50 at like 3km

i can lock just fine but in this case it may just be a bug stingers have been incredibly buggy since they were added and not much has been done to fix them i would just avoid using them until they get fixed when that will happen who knows.

im literally unable to lock onto anything that uses propellers beyond 3 km

Depending on the range of the missile, helicopters & drones are limited to half or less than half of the missile lock-on range. Unknown why they are limited to such distance.

man, I can't lock onto anything that isn't jet powered from more than 2km away at MOST when using any form of non-ATAS stingers. Even when I do get a good lock, theres a 98% chance of the missile just deciding to not track and become so enlightened it goes straight up to visit God. Only ground to air stingers suffer from this issue. I can't name you one single time where my stinger actually tracked properly. I've accidentally gotten kills with them, but they rarely if ever hit the target I locked. Another reason why I just flat out dont use SAMs in ground battles and 1death leave. Just, not worth respawning in a SAM that has a 9/10 chance of just not working and losing me 8-13k SL... Ontop of my 1 or 2 tanks I use beforehand, which could down me at LEAST 20k SL minus ammo costs. (Yes the Type-93 is a grand whopping 12k SL to repair when spaded, don't ask me why.)

for some reason the puma is also 8,5k when spaded, which is mind boggling especially with how low damaging that 30mm is compared to the 2s38, multiple occassions where a 2s38 1 shotted my leopard 2a6 from the front killing everything with 1 apfsds, meanwhile im striking the hell out of light vehicles with the puma and atleast need 4 shots to take it out.

i think this game is just inconsistent all around the board and favors the russians especially, hell look at the repair cost of every squadron vehicle and then look at the BMP-2M. whopping 2k repair cost, non premium vehicle

Helicopters have different caps at which they can be locked on to. Shortest range iv ever locked on to is 1.7km. Each helicopter is different, but the most longest lock is at 3km.

The AAM's have the exact same problem, so virtually jets can't attack competent helicopter players either.

As for radar guided AAM's are seemingly bugged or simply not programmed properly in to the game. I once got PD lock on a helicopter for flying +300km/h towards our air spawn and yet missile refused to launch at it.

The 2S38 is just a Russian anomaly.... Its an extremely cheap to play jack of all trades light tank. It excels at anti aircraft duties in mid to close range, it excels in anti-tank combat because its actually got a better gun than the HSTVL (even if it has a lower penning round, its Russian, so your shells ARE going through no matter what), and its got a flarakrad sized interior, which mean unless you slap the fuel tank (which if it gets damaged without exploding it just flat out disappears) good luck 1shotting it without knocking the crew out. Oh did I mention ammo racking it is extremely hard because your sabot wont shrapnel once it pens?

Funny thing about the BMP-2M, its repair cost went up to almost 5.3k SL when the economy update dropped that everyone rioted over but nobody boycotted over. The 2M isn't really that good. What makes it OP is the fact that you can basically fire all 4 tandem missiles in a 3 second period and overkill anything. Its still a BMP, it has no armor, no protection, and is highly prone to being 1shot. I've never been a fan of auto-gun ammo racks.... I always get ammo racked if someone simply stares at me funny. The APFSDS is great at disabling/trolling targets though.

The Puma is alright....... Its armor doesn't really work when everyone uses top darts.... I'd put it down to a 6.8k repair cost at best, 7.3k as the middle ground. The sabot is pretty terrible. Sure its good against tanks with no side armor, but you mostly only face Russia and China.
As for the SPIKE ATGM, its not getting it. Gaijin will plan to add a specialized SPIKE Puma rather than giving the current Puma the addon weapon, trust me. I believe in a Q&A they stated such plans, I just can't be F'd to find the Q&A. If we were to get SPIKE missiles for other nations, I'd probably say late fall early winter is when we get them.

i got slapped out of the sky by the SATCP and was like hmm never heard of that missile, its pretty much a bigger stinger with the same range stats, yet it can lock onto helicopters just fine, i was in the BO german helicopter
