War thunder 'crashes' whole pc within just minutes of opening the game

specs

XFX rx 580 best buy version (1366mhz factory overclock)

ryzen 5 4500 (no overclock)

newest version of windows 11

LEXAR 480?gb ssd (health is meh... 70% SMART health)

500gb WD BLUE (no errors)

GPU drivers: currently AMD PRO 23.Q1.1 (also tried to use some adreniline versions)

every time when i play war thunder after around 5 - 10 minutes when in a match suddenly my monitor says "no display" and either the pc is unrepponsive or i can hear a windows error. around 60% when i shutdown the system and turn it back on, night light is off and the display drivers are deactivated, when i activate them it gives a display error code 31 or something like that. please help me this is so annoying and it has only been getting worse and worse with the time it takes before crashing reducing a ton.

UPDATE: recently i tried (again) to play war thunder and see if it crashes, instead of the black screen/no display and looping audio or still hearing the windows notifications and stuff, this time i made a sound that sounds like when a pc gets BSOD. (i can't really explain it)

UPDATE: clearing cache helped improve the time before crashing!

UPDATE: I now noticed that it crashes even before joining a match.

UPDATE: I have wayyyyyyyy to many updates here.

at least from what i know war thunder is the only game that is affected, though i have not tried many other games so im not quite sure.

stuff i tried.

- DDU + reinstalling drivers (both newest pro and newest adrenilin drivers)
- verifiing integirity of war thunder files
- updating drivers (already up to date :) )
- sfc/scannow
- running gpu stress tests like Heaven or Furmark for 30min - an hour
- resetting bios (caused a even weirder issue haha)
- reinstalling war thunder on C AND D drive
- clearing war thunder cache (was able to play for a bit longer but still crashed after around 3 rounds, after that re-clearing the cache didn't do anything to improve time :( )
- running malwarebytes virus scan thingy
- running steam/war thunder as admin
- disabling freesync
- disabling surface format optimization
- clearing video cache (AMD)

Yes, i have tried that many things and it still wont work.

Try running command prompt as administrator, and type sfc/scannow to see if your registry is corrupted. considering you already did the main troubleshooting steps.

it didn't find any integrity violations. probably didn't fix the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though!

Did you ever experience this with your old gpu? Or is the rx 580 the only one you've ever had with that PC?

i had another used rx 580 (2048SP from sapphire) which had a weird hardware issue and was sold.

Hmm it's an odd problem indeed, especially since the gpu is only five months old.

delete the WT cache. It will make a new one when you reload the game. Check your cable connections. Sacrifice a chicken

Also am I seeing things or your Lexar went from 81% health down to 70% in one day lol?

81% health was when i last checked it which was a few months ago, i guess it decreased quite a bit.

it seems clearing the cache has at least made it "more stable" I was able to survive one round without crashing.

UPDATE: after (around) 3 rounds it crashed again, the issue is not fixed :(

are there any amd settings that could be causing conflict with war thunder? (for example anti-lag, freesync, etc)
