You could possibly dogfight them with thrust vectoring. But problem with that is the massive player count in battle. So you are likely to get blasted by 3rd party aircraft before you can even win a dogfight. So you might be better off flying near the ground to ward off top down gun attacks.
At the very least check your six religiously, to avoid getting missiled
Early MiG-21 (PFM, F13, S)/J-7II and a chunk of MiG-21SPS-K will have flares. Later MiG-21s will have them.
One thing to note is you're one of the few vehicles the 21 will be able to outrun after bleeding its energy, but I've seen a few folks use the thrust vectoring on the harrier to its advantage on forcing an overshoot.
Assuming you're using the AIM-9G, a good idea is to take them out from a distance and hope they don't notice the missile flying at them from almost 4 km away. It has long legs and just enough maneuverability to get them provided they continue showing their rear end.
The best thing is to go fast and engage at a distance. If they catch you in Gun range, you're going to have a bad time.
