Can someone explain the appeal of air realistic battles to me please?
I like the better physics of realistic battles, takeoff and land, I like the faster time to kill and so on.

But each battle you spend the first like 5 minutes flying in a straight line before you even get remotely close to an enemy. Then, if you run out of ammo or get too damaged, you have to fly back to base and then all the way back to the fight.

I like the realism to an extent, but in every match don't you spend like 10 minutes just flying in a straight line with nothing happening, or am I missing something?

i dont mind the one life per se, but literally u just fly around with nothing happening like 90% of the match

Well, it's appealing if you like it's slower pace

For me personally is arcade for WWII vehicles and realistic for modern ones

1. Actually hitting someone is hard. When you do - feels good
2. You are more likely to have a protracted fight. The more time you spend fighting that one guy, the more effort you invest in getting on his behind and blasting your hot load all over him - the more satisfying it is
3. No respawns means that every time you eliminate someone - they are gone for good, every action has that much more impact
4. No respawns means there is much less people flying around - less chance to die in an unsatisfying way to a 3rd guy while fighting someone
5. You can mostly ignore the absolute worst part of air battles - bomber players(because without infinite in-air bomb replenishment they don't have any impact on the game 95% of the time)and focus on what is actually interesting - fighting other people(no, bomber players aren't people)
6. Planes fly like planes, arcade UFO is kinda wack imo

Why do I prefer RB? As a smart guy once said.

I like the realism

The 1 death per game is exactly the reason why i play Air RB actually. I usually have youtube-shorts or tiktok open on my 2nd screen and zone out for at least a minute until i make it to the battlefield.

The rewards are more, well, rewarding for just scoring a kill or two. When compared to spending 20-25 minutes carrying a team in Arcade mode only to get the same/less rewards because of repairing/restocking ammo for all your planes.

I've also gotten tired of spawn campers who sit on your team's spawn point just killing anyone in the 3 seconds they spawn in. Whenever you try to climb to deal with them, they usually have a 2nd or 3rd person who spots them and its a never ending cycle of dying to the same 3 players. RB is great for the 1 and done, onto the next game.

I don't really like air RB that much, just recently I've taken up playing it a bit more for spading jets, it does go faster there compared to AB.

Jet RB for me consists of destroying a base, maybe some ground targets, maybe one or 2 ai planes, if I'm lucky an enemy plane, rtb and if my team was better start again and maybe get a second base or ground targets.

Air RB is for RP, air AB is for SL, and I'm much more comfortable with AB, even after all the time I play WT, also nowadays I mostly play for tasks, which are usually easier in AB.

look, if you can't enjoy flying around straight for 5 minutes you don't have an atom of a pilot in you.
And luckily and hopefully your attention span would prevent you from being around planes in any capacity in real life.
You just have to realize your true potential. You are here to F*U*C*K around. You are a F*U*C*K*E*R
not a pilot.
With that piece of wisdom stop grasping the appeal of flying, you just can't.

Just stop complaining and comparing yourself to those who want to fly and enjoy flying 5 minutes or even more. They are a minority anyway. Live your life to the fullest your way.

I play Air RB Because at top tier in Jets no one plays Arcade, so it kinda be comes sink or swim and you dont have a choice but to play Realistic once you get jets
Wandering Flare Jun 16, 2023 @ 1:45am
Personally, I like Air RB because I don't like Air AB. The drawn out "intro" of the match does take a bit, but I'd much rather have that than a chaotic furball that requires more luck than skill where every aircraft performs the same with marginal differences every match.

People play ARB for the same reason people play GRB:

Masochism.

Bring back RB Enduring Conflict, I say. Was my favourite thing to play, by a country mile.
Once you get jets, the 5 min of flying in a straight line turns to 30s.

But that is exactly why I no longer play props.

Those 10 min are decisive for you, you need to have something in mind and not just flying straight with no idea in my opinion.
You can take altitude, speed, course to avoid threats or follow a team mate to not be alone in air fights. The speed and altitude will be decisive in the first contact, so you have plenty of time to choose who you want to fight.
