Why do I see low tier tanks in high tier arcade battles?

I've been playing a ton of arcade battles in my Leopard 2A5 and almost every game I either see someone on my team or the other team using a WW2 tank. Why do people use them in these battles?

if you kill a vehicle that is higher br than your vehicle you get an extra reward. some low br tanks like the puma (3.3 one) have really good ammunition and can pen high br or cap a flag for spawn points (and most tanks will overpen on it since snail coding lmao).
you get 30k silver lions if you get the god mode ribbon, so puma kills a 8.3 or higher br vehicle = 30k+ silver lions per kill.
you might have seen rank does not matter pop up on your screen from time to time, it's basically the same but less diffrence in br (if i recall it's 1.0 br diffrence)
there also is skill matters which gives 7500 silver lions for (i think it was 3 br diffrence)

3. Recording themselves and later uploading it to brag or farm "points" on "Le reDdiT"

I've experienced all three reasons myself. Regarding point (3) one guy was even so blatant about it that he literally asked the other team in all chat to please not attack him or even present themselves as a target on purpose because he is "making a video"...

It would be a gag to bring a L3/33 CC covered with plenty of bushes to a battle with BR 11. One could not damage anything but spot many things.

In addition to the reasons above, could be someone who bought a top tier premium, died, then only had low tier stuff to play with.

People do that, then hide it on a cap point somewhere out of sight. Can hold down a point for a long time that way since you’re so small it can be hard to spot you. Even better if an ally can push you into a nook you shouldn’t be able to get into. I’ve seen a match in a lower tier where a squad escorted an L3 one two different cap points and hid them inside some ruined buildings. We won that match simply because the enemy couldn’t find them to get the cap.

So there is no penalty if you take a low tier tank into a high tier battle? I just assumed there would have been since it could be considered trolling

With light tanks like the BT and M22 it can be a way to get into aircraft fast or to fill up a lineup - also sometimes they can fill up a free slot or role nothing else can do with your unlocks. (For example you see the Sd.Kfz.234/2 very often 3-4 BR up since there are just no light German tanks in the whole rank 3 and 4.

I remember a recent match where I got killed in my modern Tank by the same guy in 2 different Sherman tanks... usually most people who spawn something lower tier they at least take something out that can hurt you. (also modern Tanks have usually very light side armor)

They must have at least have one Vehicle in that high tier to get there. I use a BR 3.0 TD all the time at 8.7. There are so many light tanks running around that its pretty common to get one or two. Heavys are hard to kill, but light tanks have a hard time with them also. I think its fun, but I do have 4 more 8.0's lined up for the rest of the battle.

What I see sometimes is, that they form a squad with one of them having a far higher BR lineup.

Saw R35´s and reserve Panzer III`s up to BR 7+ with predictable outcomes for them.
