You see, AIM-54 only needs to be locked when it is fired.

After it is fired, radar lock can be removed and AIM-54 enters bulldog mode.

Bulldog mode is when missile decides it's own target and goes for it. It's also optic guided so you cant either chaff it or flare it

I wouldn't but it past a bug, since content updates love breaking the game.

But at what angle did it hit you from? If it came from the side, then it might have been in a RWR blindspot. "90%" of the way however the missile gets guided by TWS that doesn't give off RWR lock warning. While in final approach however it switches to internal guidance and should give off RWR lock warning.

If it is close enough to activate RWR warning, it's too late

As other posters have mentioned, aircraft have RWR blind spots and it's subjective to the aircraft you're using. If an AIM-54 comes in from an angle or approach that's in one of those blind spots, it will naturally avoid triggering your RWR.

A good way to test where your aircraft's RWR blind spots are is to go into Test Flight and get locked up by the Ground SPAA, and once you do, start slowly rolling your aircraft while you're approaching it. If at any time the RWR signal disappears while you're rolling, you've figured out where the blind spot is. I would also orient your aircraft is showing its top half to the SPAA and its belly showing against the SPAA.

That isn't true. Iv dodged plenty of AIM-54A's. What actually gets you killed is hesitation. Wondering if it's just a someones aircraft locking you, instead of defending.

In which its own radar locks the target, which should give a lock warning
