just seems so boring to play xp pinata for everyone else
Bombers weren't being a bombers at that time. They were being used as GUNSHIPS instead of simply bombing actual targets.
Bombers with decent accuracy and defense and people abused it to hell. If you even maximize its full potential with a full squad and with a barrier of gunners that guarantees to wipe out a single fighter one at a time efficiently and bomb base that guarantees a win.
Gaijin nerfed it as the way it should be. Bombers being a bombers as they are now. They still fire in actual gun range like depicted in actual history guncam at that time and films. Firing beyond 1 KM is beyond ridiculous at this point but player can always use the manual AI gunner control to fire a 1 KM at the cost of your manoeuvrability which meant flying straight.
A good trade off for its purpose.
Yeah the actual way to play bombers now are bombers meant to fly with other bombs in a squad or simply ask a friend to escort you since nobody in the actual match will babysit a bomber. They don't queue to escort you. They queue to fight.
Bombers are classified as "support" class in this game in my POV. They're not the main character but a side character but hey its better than having a no bomber at all in this game right?
You say its historical but how close did fighters need to get to hit the bomber IRL
this goes for aircraft gunners too if you can manage the extremely arduous task of multitasking flying straight and level while playing a point and click adventure. Don’t expect to go back to the days where a single b29 could account for multiple jets attacking it without any player input
