APDS or HEAT?

I've been playing 7.3 as Italy but my APDS rounds are semi weak. Idk if HEAT rounds are good to use in this Br. Should I unlock them or naw?

APDS have a high chance (for me) of non penning the weakest of tanks I prefer HEAT but that too is also not great

They just "fixed" apds shatter but I haven't seen a notable improvement in performance. I'd still use it over HEATFS most of the time but expect it to do nothing at least 50% of the time.

Of the two I'd main APDS and carry a couple heat for tanks you can overpressure.

If I have access to both HEAT and HE, I'll take HEAT. If I have HESH I'll do that over the two.

If I have APDS I'll main that over HEAT always. That's usually my ammo loadout for almost every tank that falls into that category.

In my opinion APDS should be the default. 20 rounds of APDS and 10 rounds of HEAT. The latter is reserved for heavy tanks which one will encounter from time to time.

Comes with being staff for Gaijin (any type). I love the free Steam points though so no complaints.

7.3 is a good tier for HEAT rounds, since most of the tanks have very sturdy armor and are very weak against chemical weapons, at later BR's you will see APFSDS ammo that will surpass HEATFS rounds
