Did you actualy read the article ? Free parts make it so it "works" with a penalty.
Still better than nothing cause now you can at least shoot back again.

I haven’t noticed any change with the “free parts”. They are still exactly the same as before they were officially introduced.

As far as I can tell, the "Free parts" only repairs things that are fully broken and only to a barely usable point. So if your gun is destroyed, just J out like you would have before. If your engine is destroyed, just J out like you would have before. Half repairing does nothing to help the stock grind when you still have to use HEATFS on everything high tier and you face the same OP premiums every round at every BR anyways.

I think they just announced it to gain support from the player base, even though its the exact same thing as before.

if your guns red you need to shoot to fully destroy it so you can then repair it.... think the tresshold is too high as red gun is unusable but games like "well its not destroyed though"

The "free" parts (that every ground vehicle gets) repairs vehicles to a certain limit were in the game before yes, but now have been reduced all around, improving them overall:

Penalties to vehicle characteristics after repair of modules with field repair in AB and RB are changed as follows:

  • Gun spread multiplier has been changed from х15 to х5;
  • Guidance angles have been changed from 3 to 6 degrees;
  • Transmission losses have been changed from 50% to 25%;
  • Engine power reduction has been changed from 60% to 40%.

So essentially, the stats were improved for field repairs.

I think if your breach or barrel are just yellow/orange game prompts you to ask for repair, free parts cannot fix this. If you fire and fully break your breach/gun(blacked out) I believe you can use free parts to fix it, suboptimally.

Basically, all the non-parts repairs do is make it so your first 10 games while you're researching parts will be slightly more frustrating because you'll repair your destroyed gun just to have it blow up in your face again and force you to repair it again.

As far as I can tell, at least. You can still get an ally to repair you fully I think. Guess it isn't the worst thing in the world but it is NOT what players wanted. We wanted to not have to research parts and FPE on every single tank first thing, because all it does is make your first few (Or many in high tier) matches feel GOD AWFUL. Then you have to get another 20k RP to unlock your non-HEATFS ammo still, like lol.
