190s are not bad.
With that said, if you can get it on sale, the MiG-21 SPS-K or Ju-288 are good for grinding up, and I found the G 91R/4 to be decent.
Thankfully Germany has a good fighter lineup in general and usually competent teams.
Except the g2, it's literally worse than the f4
I researched most of my german air tree with the bf 109 F-4, i easily find it the most balanced of all the 109´s (Personal preference off course).
Most 109´s are very good to grind trough the three, i would obviously pick the F-4 and the G-6 is really good as well.
Again it depends on what your playstyle is and wheather or not if you can adapt
The Fw190 gains speed, then you rotate the craft before pulling up or down. Thats how it is flown, which is a little weird compared to a lot of other aircraft as it TOTALLY loses speed and maneuverability if you dont understand how to fly it specifically
The Bf109 is more forgiving for an inexperienced pilot. But, youll lack speed and maneuverability compared to most of your competition at every level. still a reliable, hard hitting plane. When I was learning how to play, i'd probably pick up 1 or 2 kills with each craft before i died, but occassionally have a nutty life on the fw190 and get a whopping 3 or 4 kills.... xd (if i dont get survivor in my F104G i am disappointed now)
The grind was tough. Also i would say it is critical to skip the 7.3 crafts! you dont need the me262 except for the 5.7 version for a fun early jet. Just grind the 7.3s out and save yourself the SL. only purchase these to get the to the me163, do not train/fly them! total SL waste, they are ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and dunked on by every plane around 7.0 - 7.7.
The me163 is THE game changer for germans! suddenly you have the fastest, highest altitude craft out of all of your opponents. this happens exactly 0 times leading up this point, the 1.7 He-100 D-1 used to be the only other dominant plane the germans had but they nerfed that into the ground...
So my advice is getting ready to fly the Bf109 as ur bread n butter (its just reliable for at least a kill or two usually), i advise you to learn how to fly the fw190 as that type of plane mechanic is useful later, and also just get ready to hit the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ grind... its very hard but totally worth it.
the me163 changed EVERYTHING about this game for me. But then guess what? after that i got the mig15 - :O. the first plane the germans have which basically just wants to gain speed+altitude, its totally incredible the first time you fly one after youve been playing Germans the whole time...
and last point, i fly the mig21MF. Here's what you dont know: it has fuel tank underneath it. Look at the image for the Mig21-bis for the germans. Notice how its from underneath, and its flat? the Mig21MF is not flat underneath, but has an annoying like ♥♥♥♥ thing that ♥♥♥♥♥ with its aerodynamics. Not a great plane.
Trust me, trust me: you want the f104g. fastest plane in every lobby i fly, and i fight 11.3s all the time. Only thing i think in the game that ♥♥♥♥♥ on it is the Mig29 and the F16 now, but you dont fight those
I think it should have that ability to remove it, it's literally an export version of the S (though it may not be wise to do remove it.)
Agree with the advice on the Fw-190 and it'll likely be how one will want to fly a MiG-21 too as it has similar bleed in maneuvers.
and OP dont worry about the fw190 vs bf109 my guy, eventually youre going to hit a wall where developing both trees makes sense (this way you can have all 5 free crews flying decent planes, which in my opinion makes the german grind bearable). Fly a couple of fw190s, a couple bf109s, etc. Both of those trees go deep
