Which tanks specifically are you having trouble with? Their armour and firepower varies quite massively across BR's.

They do often have a bit of an advantage in firepower due to getting their default ammo often being very good but this is also shared with most Russian tanks as well. At least compared to say America/Britain where most tanks have rather bad default ammo and you need to work to unlock the ones that are actually good.

My favorite part of playing Britain and USA tanks is that every time I come up against a german tank I have to be ultra precise to get a worthwhile shot, meanwhile they can shoot me anywhere and instantly disable me or instakill me.
