i agree the grind is rough, especially if youre not making the absolute most out of research and SL bonuses.
But imo, going into any game with the objective of wanting to grind through to the endgame right away will tend to leave players frustrated or cause them to burn out early. Much better to just play and find a way to enjoy the content you have access to and eventually you will get to the end game content.
I don't want to grind through with ease, but I also don't want to grind till top tier for 8-10 years.
Which is what it takes.
The grind is too much and the fact that one is forced to play WW2 vehicles for 90% of the grind just to eventually get to a solid fighter jet, is just not a smart business idea.
People have different interests. Not everyone enjoys the WW2 era.
Now if a noob then buys a modern vehicle for 60 bucks, everyone complains he sucks at the game and quits the match after his one vehicle is gone. And you think this isn't a bad game model ?
Also, I am playing the game since release and have not one " unlocked " top tier vehicle, the ones I have, are premium.
Yes, I had a few breaks and did not spend money on premium accounts a lot, but hello... I am playing the game casually since 11 bloody years. Even the worst player should get a top tier after this time. But even 11 years wasn't enough time to try playing different trees and getting a top tier at the same time.
Game sucks. Game is a massive grind and game is a rip off.
Anyone who claims this is well made or fair, regarding the grind and economy, lost touch with reality.
The only reason this game has such a big playerbase is because there is no other game like this. Once there is a solid competitor, who does not have such an insane grind and ideally no repair economy at all, players will literally leave the game and never look back.
if I had the team and time, I would develop an alternative to WT, but I am currently simply not in the position to do so.
On one hand, i kinda feel like it's the player's fault if you've been playing for the better part of a decade, and still dont have modern vehicles. but, I agree with you about the fact that war thunder just has no real competition.( i dont even think world of tanks really compares)
a few times a year a scour the internet hoping somebody will come in and start working on a true rival game for them. And i always end up back on war thunder. though i have been tracking a game called Gunner, Heat, PC for a while now. hoping and praying for the best but i still dont think it's a war thunder killer.
all in all, war thunder is not a terrible game, but it aint really all that good either. Feels like the only game mode i've been playing for years is, 'go drive to that circle over there and hope you dont get one-shotted from across the map.'
I really wish somebody would just go ahead and design a AA or AAA vehicular warfare game with realistic modules and damage models. The day it comes out will be the day i uninstall war thunder.
If you don't accept it, look for other games to play modern day vehicles, there are some out there and everyone knows them - but they as well cost money.
No company will drop their business model - which works for them, otherwise this game would be long shut down - just because of people complaining about it in one obscure forum made by one retailer.
Your own decision.
add.. OP pretty much keeps repeating his own arguments and also doesn't forget to throw in some childlike logic - i.e. everyone who disagrees with him is out of touch of reality and other such nonsense. Grow up.
Not asking to the grind to go down to that level of can unlock every think in one night just that if i sit down for 4 hours one night i can make some head way in to a tech tree.
But gaijin think people like the game more when it take them 10 years to unlock every think even if you do 14 hours a day 7 days a week it still take years to unlock every think.
But they never going to do any think about it there no to many people say the grind is to long and the economy of the game is bad with the way the game is now it make them lot of money lot of money and people are happy to be milk.
Can you at less make premium account be worth the cost of having it so i go from a 20 years grind down to 10 years i can't want for a new game that better then this to come out the grind is killing me and i bet i have 2 country full tech tree by then only 4 more years to go
Yeah. If they would remove this, the grind would only be half as bad. I agree.
Its real simple, you wanna play top tier? buy a top tier vehicle then, oh you got no money? Thats your problem.
squadron vehicles offer little to no benefit over tech tree with the exception of a few (M-901 and BMP-2M) the rest of them have nothing special.
Good point. I actually enjoy low BR ground battles. I am not good at ground but I really enjoy it
get the squadron vehicles you can get top tier ez pz just join a squadron and pick one you want just takes a lil time
