Does anyone know the reason why gaijin decided to ignore the FAPDS round used for the Gepard and only used the APDS rounds?

Not really, if you look at the ZSU-57-2, it uses APCBC with a 151 mm pen while its only at BR 7.0 meanwhile the Gepard has the APDS with 127 mm pen at BR 8.0.

The FAPDS has a slightly less penetrative power but has more fragmentation so I would guess it would have around 115-120 mm penetration.

yeah but the ZSU 57 is ustabilized, open topped, has no radar and fires way slower

Not to mention that gebard very rarely sees ww2 tanks with heavy armor.
151mm and the fire rate of gepard would absolutely melt everything at 8.0-9.0

in the gepards case its more powerful to be at 8.0 with the faster fire rate cannon and the 120mm of pen. great radar, mobile platform, and armor that can somewhat withstand heavy MGs. the only AA that gets cheated in the game is the american 7.7 aa with that minigun. seams fun on paper. is the worst radar AA by far in practice.
