Can we maybe do something for the Asia-Pacific players?
:steamsalty:I know that Gijin aren't exactly famous for their welcoming attitude to criticism but War Thunder's been out for a long time now, can we maybe get an East Asian server? I live in Australia, so I'm used to having to play with one hand tied behind my back because of potato internet. I shouldn't though, for a game as big and profitable as War Thunder, have to choose between an average 999 ping server and an average 812ping server. It doesn't even have to be in Australia, we're used to being forgotten. Open it up to the Asia Pacific where people you might actually care about live.:steamsalty:

:steamsalty: I mean, there are rumors for South-♥♥♥♥ing-Africa getting their own server for crying out loud. Why does that ♥♥♥ end of the world country get to play properly but my ♥♥♥ end of the world country has to contend with tanks doing their best submarine impression and planes that think that the laws of physics are just guidelines and it's perfectly acceptable to fly sideways? :steamsalty:

Its south america unforunately for us.

I completely agree with you OP, no love for the large amount of AU and NZ players it seems.

Not sure what you're smoking but the SA server is Southeast Asia.
Odd that they all speak spanish and i still have 200+ ping then.

I read on Official forums the Asian server is in Singapore, not sure if correct, as it was a regular forum member.
Illusionyary May 22, 2016 @ 12:04am
SA is Southeast Asia, yeah. I get anywhere from 60-70 ping connecting to it from Australia, so it's definitely Asia. I'm used to playing with 400 ping on the US and EUR servers nowadays though, so it doesn't bother me too much.

SA is the south asian server pool located in Singapore. still most AU / NZ players i know play on the US servers (mainly due to the low player count on the SA servers). and even with the geological location of the SA servers being closer to AU / NZ the latencies may be just as good or even better on the US servers depending on the lines / bandwidth / ISP connections between the player and the servers.

in addition (to the already subpar connection between Australia and south asia or the rest of the world in general) in the last couple of months there have been a few problems with some submarine cables in that region so the internet traffic had to be rerouted through other connections. this on it's own may already have raised the latencies but also brought those other connections / channels to their limits which for sure didn't help ;)

one more thing.... at least in one of the latest events players got rerouted to other (all) servers when they had to wait more than 4 minutes for a battle to start. i tested this myself on the SA server. i dont know if this is still happening or if this is happening in 'normal' battles at all (may have been related to that one event or events in general only) buf definitely something to have an eye on imo.

You get used to 400+ ping which is scary to say, but when i get 100 or below i git gud
Daymo May 22, 2016 @ 1:06am
It's too expensive to run a server in Australia.
Super Unlucky May 22, 2016 @ 3:27am
I'm aware of the SA. In the origional where this is from I mentioned that but apparently that thread no longer exists.
http://warthunder.com/en/news/549-Southeast-Asian-server-now-available-en/

The issue is that the server is either always down, devoid of players or completetly impossible to connect to from the land down under due to magical dickery I cannot comprehend. The current SA server in Singapore is significantly worse than, for example, the US server because of its ♥♥♥♥♥♥ location. It takes so long to connect that you just get kicked. I was able to connect easier to the SA server a couple of years ago when I played on it but then you just end up with 400-600 ping. It's better than the 800-999 you'll get from the US, RU or EU servers but, because it's impossible to connect to at all, that doesn't really count for much.

In theory, it could lead to lower pings but because of crappy planning on Gijin's part it's impossible to use.

I call shenanigans. I used to play on it back before I gave up and I never had less that 400 ping on the SA server.

Dealing with people flying sideways is something I've put up with for a long time and I'm sick of it. I know it's never going to happen. I know Gijin don't give a rat's left testicle about us. I just had to vent (hense the salt everywhere in the OP). Nothing's going to change and I know that. It's either going to be deal with potato-powered internet and crappy connections or find something else to play that cares about Australian players.

I'm down in Western Australia, I get a better connection to Singapore than I do the rest of Australia... well I did before the cables were ♥♥♥♥♥♥ a while back. I just play on the US and EUR servers for the most part, and even with 400 ping I manage to play just fine. If planes are flying sideways and such like you say, you're dealing with a packet loss issue because Gaijin have done a brilliant job at negating high pings.

Yeah, that's kind of the point.

The only ~400 ping server is the SA server, which is always down, depopulated or dying. Everything else for those of us on the East coast you're looking at a 800-999 ping. Only at that level to tanks think they're submarines. Assuming "Hey, can we maybe fix the SA server properly so it's not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ broken all the time?" is out of the question. Since, of course, they've had 2 years to fix that issue and haven't even attempted it. Again though, it's not like I actually expect Gijin to do anything. They don't care. I just needed to vent.
