So I got that email about the closed beta for the new naval features. And while I get that their are foreign payment methods that I am unaware of, I see an option to pay via subway gift card...

I see a CVS pharmacy gift card option as well. I got to start saving those crappy gift cards my relatives give me as gifts.

Don't do gift cards! They require at least $10 extra than the amount you're paying for, plus some of the cards have a processing fee like the Subway one

Really? On top of paying for a video game with a Subway Gift Card, which is already weird, you have extra fees too? Very weird system.

I was thinking about that, then the ability to buy in game products with Subway and CVS gift cards blew my mind.

You can convert various gift cards into GE. Don't buy gift cards to convert them, but hey, if you got some that you aren't going to use, you may as well convert them.

Everything in War Thunder has been like that, and it's no different from other games either. You had to buy a premium ship to get into the World of Warships closed beta too (I bought the Yuubari ^_^). Although generally War Thunder will allow you to do tasks to get into the closed testing, like back in 2014 when tanks were added. You could either buy a tank package, or do tasks to get into it.
