.rar Skins, how do you get them into .zips?
So I downloaded a skin that I never knew was a .rar, for the B-17G-60-VE. How do you turn it into a .zip?

You will have to purchase WinRAR in order to open .rar files

No you won't. It'll just keep hammering on at you that your trial has expired, but you can still open things fine.

Or you can avoid that entirely and simply use 7-zip.

7-zip has a really ugly UI, though.

Total Commander... the only tool that is running on my system on a daily basis ^^ you dont need anything else ;) handling archives, file operations (copy, move, delete), reading / editing text files, comparing files to each other, searching files etc etc.

it's basically an all-in-one tool or 'the swiss army knife for Windows' - give it a try ;)

You don't even really need the UI though, you can simply right click on a compressed file and extract it to it's own folder within the same directory.
That aside, I find 7-zips's simple and clean UI far better than win-rar's.
Both of them have ugly and outdated UI, and that's not a bad thing. I find 7-zip runs a bit quicker on my system, doesn't have licensing issues, and is more efficient at compressing files, when used for that function.
The 7-zip compression format is also not proprietary, being open source, unlike winrar.

what? who the heck pays for winrar? it's shareware!

You'd be speechless if only you saw the wonders that come with a paid version of WinRAR. I pity the people who have never saw what lies inside the paid version of WinRAR.

What lies then in a paid win-rar?

All the wonders you can possibly imagine, and even those you can't. All the mysteries of this universe, all the questions anyone can make, all the intriguing thoughts mankind has ever had, they are all answered within the core of the paid version of WinRAR. If only you have seen even half what I have by owning a paid version of this beautiful work of art, this product of the greatest minds that have ever lived, and those that are still to live in the future, if only you could see this...

A ton of features probably available on other programs for free, with it being likely that the majority of them would see no use for a common user.

I really don't see the issue people have with the UI of 7zip. The functions the vast majority of people use are accessible via a rightclick without even opening up the program proper, and even from within the program, the basic functions the majority of users use are easily available.

Total commander is absolutely overkill for most users, who will never make use of the majority of the features it touts, what with it being an advanced filemanager. It's also windows only, at least officially.

That said, given the amount of work I do with copy pasting and other file-related functions, having something more robust then windows explorer is a potential gamechanger. Would certainly make sorting through the chaff to find specific files in multiple directories easier.

Honestly, I dislike 7Zip because its UI, to me in my personal opinion feels... clunky? I think but it might be my experiences with it but the clunkiness I feel from it is odd and sometimes disorients me when I use it, in fact if Total Commander is as relliK said, I would rather use it even though it is not officially supported on Mac OS, Linux or other Operating Systems, I use Windows 10 and its UI is somehow less clunky (even though it is still terribad IMHO) to use it better than 7Zip, and that is saying something, while 7Zip has a benefit of doing what it does really well, sometimes I feel that I do not use it efficiently cuz of its UI and how clunky it is.
